Signal Wire to turn on Amp on 06

Hi,

Does anyone know what wire to use to switch on an after market amp on an 06 base model LS 2 Dr. Coupe with stock radio? I see the pinout posting but it says "radio on signal" is Pink. I do not have any pink wire going to the radio. Thanks in advance for your help.

You won't find anything behind your radio that will turn on a amp...you need to find something in the fuse box that has 12 volts when the key is on and not when the key is off if you go in the fuse box look all the way to the right towards the motor there are 2 10 amp fuses they are red use the top one i believe it's fuse number 22 but i'm not positive check it w/a meter or a test light but that should work....also useful if you want to change the radio which i would recommend since the base factory system is pretty crappy

What Head Units Fit?

Hi,

I am checking out Best Buy and Circuit Cities fit guide for the 06 Cobalt 2dr and both sights say they have nothing that fits. Do either of these stores sell a head unit that fits with the installation kit and harness. It appears to me from other installs that I have done, that this is not much different in size.

Thanks

Rick

I know we dont have the dash kit at Best Buy but may be able to order it and yeah the fit guide says nothing. I check periodically. The correct harness that works with the RDS system in the radio runs about $120 at BBY and Circuit City if the plug is the usual 2000+ GM harness. Any radio should fit just fine, just need the dash kit.

You do not need to buy a $120 wiring harness to put an aftermarket radio in the Cobalt. I'm not sure which harness you need, but I think it's been posted here somewhere. I chose to splice into my wires, as I only needed the constant power wire and ground. I tried to get the wiring harness from Best Buy, but they gave me the wrong one. I finally said, "F*** it," and just hard wired it. You don't have to relocate your factory stereo. You won't lose your chimes, and everything works perfect. Don't listen to the idiots that try to talk you in to more than you need. Best Buy does carry the dash kit, as that's where I got mine. If I remember correctly, the dash kit is the same as the newer Malibu and Equinox.
