Looking to put in Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD
I like this unit and want to put it in instead of the stock MP3 pioneer unit. My question is, what do I need to do to retain onstar and XM?
Also is there anything I really need to know to install this thing successfully?

You'll also have to modify the notch for the coax plug on the pioneer unit.
A guy did it here with good instructions:

You can use the stock antenna on your car... but you'll have to get the Pioneer GEX-P920XM tuner for XM and trash your XM module that came with the cobalt.

hooray, my thread. lol. If you got a 07, you need the expensive gm-lan harness, to retain your door chimes. Im not sure about the onstar, im sure someone will chime in about that.

heres a link for the how to in installing an avic f-series unit. It will be pretty much the same install. He shows how to set up the harness and how to cut out the piece behind the radio to utilize some more depth. Should be pretty much the same for yours, as the profile of the units is pretty much the same.

I installed this unit into my car about 6 months ago and i absolutly love it. Great choice. I have an 09 and I don't use XM radio so I wasn't too concerned about keeping it. Here is what I ordered from Crutchfield...
*Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD Receiver
*Metra GM OnStar Interface (GMOS-LAN-04) (Maintains OnStar*)
*PAC SWI-X Steering Wheel Control Interface (Maintains Steering Wheel Controls)
here is the "How-To" on how to wire the harnesses all together. I followed this and then just installed it into my car. If you have any questions, just lemme know
