Thanks Emperor. Everything hooked up and worked great. Until, I plugged in iphone and found that it would not charge it.. So after a call to crutchfield and a look at head units I went back to Kenwood KDC-X993 which I was going to get at first. haha.

Now all I can think about is wanting amp/subs. lololol

Yeh Ill send it out today or tomorrow after i get it back in the box.. they gave me a shipping label to print out and use to send it back.. then I get my 300 back from buyin the new deck and cable.

Also waived the restocking fee. Crutchfield is amazing.

I could have just sent them the alpine and they would have sent the kenwood and I wouldnt have to pay anything but this allows for less downtime.

Not user-friendly at all. Theres no back button so if say im at a light and I want to change teh album.. but choose wrong album.. I have to disconnect iphone, choose the album and reconnect it and it starts playing.. (thats the quickest awy for me)

its just a pain to use one knob to do everything on the deck. push it in for a quick click does one thing and holding it does another.. and sometimes when you try to push it in, youre pushing it to the left..

Dont get me wrong.. other then that I love it.. included BT hands free calling.. the sounds awesome.. the DTA works pretty welll and it sounds amazing.. but.. just way to hard to do simple things..

DVD. I thought about BT... because obv the kenwood but.. out of stock. ill prolly just add the option later or something.

I think out of boredom I may go hook up that e-brake cable here in a second after work.

(is it just as easy as connecting the cable coming out of the ebrake under the plastic?)

fairly sure it is.. and now that i think about it.. because youre connecting a wire from headunit to a wire that has no end.. the mechanism at end of e-brake wire from head unit is made for that kind of connection.. awesome.

haha.. im startin to like this stereo stuff..

I have a question, what do I need to keep the D.I.C in my 07 cobalt ls? I want to get the alpine 9886. The Deck you mentioned is discontinued...Also is there a way to keep the D.I.C if you replace your radio with a 2Dinn radio like the IVA-W505 from alpine?

Ok. Wow. I've read through a good portion of this thead and many others and I THINK I know what I'm doing, but someone please set me straight if I've got this screwed up.

So I'm going to install a new HU on my 08 SS (removing the Pioneer 6 disc stock HU). The new HU is the Pioneer Premier DEH-P510UB. So my plan is to replace the front speakers with Infinity REF6022si or similar, the rear 6x9's I've already replaced with Infinity 6x9's. I did not purchase the GMOS Lan harness. The only harness I purchased was the Pac swc harness. I don't care if I lose the factory door chimes. I plan on bypassing the factory amp simply by running new speaker wire to all four speakers (I want better speaker wire anyway and the tweets I don't plan on hooking up at all). And I already have an aftermarket amp and sub so no worries with the stock sub.

I think if I do it this way it will work just fine, from what I've read, but someone please let me know if I'm wrong or if there are other features I will lose (i.e. will the new HU still have all of it's functionality? Auto dimming, etc.)

Appreciate the help!

i would read my write up on the amp bypass and try that... running wire to the 6X9s is cake but running it thru the doors is a royal bitch in the ass

Yeah. I figured as much. So do you know if I will have any other problems since I'm not going to use the GMOS harness?
