Cams for T25 2.2 turbo setup ??

Hi people,

Right now I'm finishing my project. I build a Garrett T25G turbo on my 2.2 L61 engine (stock internals).

On my previous Nissan SR20 builds we used Jim Wolf Tech S3 cams with the T25 and they perfomed great (260 dur. / 11.2 mm lift .442).

Now I'm thinking of putting some cams in the L61 to get some extras in the higher rev range.

Now being a newb in the ecotec world (and not a 100% educated in cam-tech) I came across some things I dont understand:

It seems normal to describe (comp)cams as "blower","Turbo" or N/A... This seems a bit odd to me. I think your looking for cam specs and not a name, right?

As in duration: Were the power is made, lift: how far the valves are opened.

Now back to chosing a cam.

Why would I choose a "turbo" cam like this:
113150 - Cast core version Hydraulic Roller Camshafts

While stage 1 "Street cam" has more duration with the same lift:
113200 - Cast core version Hydraulic Roller Camshafts

So basicly, what are your experience with turbo build cams?
I'm not gonna build the head so no spring & retainer job please.

Thanx

Not a lot of people do cams on this forum, especially on the 2.2l cars. You'd probably get better feedback on Jbody.org where these engines were the standard.

You may have to do springs, the ecotec lifter design tends to collapse at higher rpms under increased load, so you may offset the increase cam profile by getting valves not opening fully due to lifters collapsing or floating due to boost pushing them open against the stock weak springs.

Ask Mr. Belvedere on here, he has good experience building ecotecs and cam choices, he will point you in the right direction.
