RUST-Who? Where? How?
Ok guys.
I want to know where the Cobalt rusts most often.
How it rusts (inside, out).
What owners receive the most rust... by state, as well as any prevention techniques. Thanks!
INCLUDE AGE AND MILEAGE THAT YOU NOTICED THE RUST. please?

I know that the old hondas would rust in the fender just above where the reat fascia meets the body. It was almost like a small pocket for water to pool in. I was just unsure as to the cobalt rusts.
I HATE RUST... with a passion.

where ever the paint takes the most wear and tear is where the rust will start... fender wells, under the doors, just inside under the carpet, where salt and water get in from salted roads. hope this helps. this holds true for about 90% of cars in northern states

Would any of you know what the warranty is for rust on an 06? I did a quick google search and i see the 2010 year its good for the same as powertrain, so 6yr, 100k. Im assuming it would be 5yr 60k for an 06 but not sure.
I have a small rust spot above my windshield on the passenger side.

Unless you've got bumper to bumper warranty you're most likely sol.
At work I've noticed that on most of the Cobalts the front seam of the hood rusts, the bottoms of the doors, and any paint chips that are left untouched.
Check the bottoms of your doors to see if the bottom weatherstripping piece is rubbing the paint off the door. Mine was (at under 20k miles ~30k km) so I touched it up, then put some pieces of 3M Clear Bra on it. Small pieces though as to not cover the fold or else it will trap water in. Just small strips down the bottom of the door on the fold where it contacts the seal, and 1 other place. I should take pictures, cause its working mint. I also noticed my trunk slightly hits my bumper so its rubbing paint off the edge of the trunk. I've been wondering how to fix this, but for now I just touch it up every other wash. Its certainly a panel alignment issue.
At my work we are a Rust Check dealer so we apply Rust Check rustproofing. I had my car done last October, and will have it done again this October. Lifetime warranty against rust for 3 model years or newer (window sills down). I don't think Rust Check is in the US yet though. It is proven to work better than Krown too. Krown was started by people that left Rust Check. Oh ya, it doesn't drip either and the underside gel (Coat and Protect Amber) doesn't wash off. If you can find a place near you, get it done.
I'm in Ottawa too, so we have a **** ton of snow, and a retarded amount of salt. lol
