Cobalt LS and 5 lug rims?
Hello, as some of you may know, I'm most likely getting a Cobalt LS in 4 days. I've been looking on what upgrades to do once I get it. I laid my eyes on these models.
1st) I think this is the SS Stock ones, but I think they are +1000$ so not considering them.
2nd) Seen them on a lot of Cobalts and they look really nice as well, I think they come stock with some models.
Okay now my main question, I've seen these rims (I think both are 5 LUG) on LS models, but the LS I'm getting comes stock with those ugly black wheels without hubcaps which I believe are a 4 LUG.
How can you fit those rims on an LS? Do you need a 4 lug to 5 lug converter? How much do they cost? Also how do you know if yours is 100 or 114.3? (I've seen 5x100, 4x100, 5x114.3, etc...)
Thanks in advance and sorry for being a noob :/

Everything said here is true. One thing they haven't said is how uncommon of a bolt pattern 5x110 is. When you see 5x114.3 they aren't stock, the hubs have been redrilled to that because it is so hard to find wheels in the 5x110 pattern. In contrast, the 4x100 pattern you can find just about any kind of wheel you want so it is best to stick with that pattern.
Figured I'd show off mine while I have the chance lol

Thanks for the replies, so basically I can't have those rim models unless I upgrade the rear axles and front hubs? That sounds pretty costly, I guess I'm better off sticking to 4-lug rims. Guess I'll have to start looking for new models.
@bluebalt07 Your rims are 4-lugs? They look pretty good!
As my cobalt is going to be red, I'd like to combine it with black rims, just like this pic, does anyone know what brand those rims are?

Yeah my rims are 4-lug and those are MSR 045s. Those are one of the cheapest wheels available. Not that that matters if you like them, but some people will say there are better choices out there.

I've found the MSR 045's in 18" for a 4x100. I think I'll get those instead of doing the hub swap, sounds like a hassle and I have no tools to do it myself. Are those rims good in weight?
I'll post on the forum when I save up some cash to see if I find some used ones in good condition. The sell a rim+tire package on eBay for 900$ brand new shipped, but I'm looking to spend 400-500$ shipped at most.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep looking I might change my mind.

They are actually kind of heavy from what I understand. Like 22 lbs a piece or something. And you won't find 18's for $400-500 shipped unless you buy ugly, junk, knockoff wheels. I got mine for around $600 shipped. My suggestion is go on tirerack.com, find a set of wheels you like, and then search for places that sell them cheaper.

Leave your suspension alone
Short answer, leave your hubs alone and just get wheels that fit your lug pattern. You will not be disappointed, there is a large selection.
If you insist on changing hubs, understand there is a lot of planning based on what all you plan to change. Changin hubs mean changing brakes, which means buying parts that don't match your vehicles VIN number, which means you either do your own brakes from now on or have to show every shop you take the car to which parts to get.
I do all of my own work, and I am in the process right now of an entire suspension replacement/upgrade. Take a look:

Did the five lug swap. I did it because I wanted better front brakes, l left rear drum because this swap was expensive enough with out doing the rear disk. I got a steal on the wheels, front calipers, and tires and it still cost over a grand. If you only want the wheels look elsewhere. 4x100 has a million options for wheels better off.

Just get an SS you'll regret not spending a little money in a long run. LS never came with 5 lug patterns so in order to use SS rims you'll need to swap out a lot of things, not worth it IMO. Some LT models came with 5 lug patterns if you want to be cheap and look at those instead of LS.

And I already bought the LS October 11th it was a great price don't regret it.

Probably best off getting some adapters I'd say. It's probably cheaper and going to be a whole lot easier than swapping hubs and rear axles in my honest opinion.
