Does your Cobalt attract a lot of attention?

So I drive a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC. Apart from the Evo mod, my car looks 100% stock. I have a GMPP exhaust, so it is a little loud. For the most part though, I drive like a civilized person when I'm in town. Here recently I've noticed that at traffic lights that almost everything has been trying to "race" me. People rev their engines at me and do fly by's to try entice me. Most of the time it's normal economy cars like Civics, Altimas, Darts, etc. Today, however, I was sitting a light when a two-toned explorer with a fake hood scoop, chrome rimzzz, and a "Carrera" badge off a Porsche started revving his engine at me. When the light turned green, he squealed his tires and took off. I couldn't help but laugh.

So I was wondering, does anyone else have any good stories of cars that tried to show off to you or race you?

This **** happens to me all the time.

I constantly get aggressive drivers when I am just cruising. I get cut off, I get tailgated, I get revv's from many different types of cars. Usually Honda's and Nissan 3xx. People race me on on ramps. its actually quite annoying.

You have high-rise wing out back? If so, that is why.

To be honest, I have not really been challenged. I have been on the interstate though and BMWs that think they own the road were shown my tail-lights.... lol... even the mighty V8 M3... : O

Yeah I have the wing, and I don't doubt for a second that it has a lot to do with it.
I don't mind it too much honestly. It definitely gives me some entertainment when I'm driving to class and work.

It must be the high rise. I rarely get people messing with me and I have a 3" mufflerless exhaust. The carbon fiber hood and trunk must deter them...

When I had the badges on my trunk everyone wanted to race when I was just cruising down the highway. De-badged except for the door SS badges, instantly ppl wanting to race went way down.

The only time the attention really bothers me is on the highway. I'll have the cruise control set and people will drive right beside me and try to egg me on for a race. That gets pretty annoying. My favorite is when guys try to show off for their girlfriends and I shut them down lol.

Haven't gotten any attention with my car as of yet. Not fast though either so it's not wanted. I'll be getting a new plate after I'm turbo'd that should attract some Honda attention.

I also live in one of the wealthiest towns in NY (not rich myself but we live in the town) so I think that has something to do with it. There is one organised car meet every year and you wouldn't believe the number of supercars you'll see that you've never seen on the streets.

I'm surprised I get any attention because of the town I live in too. A lot of middle eastern kids come to WVU for the petroleum engineering program and they have some insane cars. Corvettes, GTRs, STI's, Porsches, EVOs. Even a Ferrari and SLR McLaren. I'm amazed anyone gives my car a second look.

i get looks but i think it's because of the loud exhaust. i haven't really been messed with that much in the 2 and half years i've had the car. once from a civic that kept slowing down in front of me and speeding off. happened about 3 times. and if somebody's tailgating i get away from them if i can. it's annoying but for the most part i'm left alone. they hear the bypass and leave me alone. they maybe don't know about the turbo balts?

I don't think a lot of people do know about the supercharged and turbocharged Cobalts. I work at an Avis in an airport and some customers asked me to give them a ride to a restaurant just down the road. Got to talking and it turns out one of them had a SRT-10 Viper, so he was definitely a car guy. Got to an open stretch and got on it a little bit. He heard the supercharger then looked at me and said "what the hell is this thing?"

it's like somebody else had said, it's more about lifted trucks and suv's, 4x4s that's what a lot of people have due to the weather change.
