I'm new here guys. I Have some serious cars, Cobras and GT40,and have raced a bit. We have an amazing track opening up soon here in New Orleans, (nolamotorsports.com) so I thought I'd get a track day car to play with. I like the sleeper/underdog mystique of the Cobalt, and want to buy one. I want a maxed out car for track action that I can drive to the track. What is the best choice/year to start and what should I do to modify it? Differences in SS,and SS SC?
Thanks

Very important

Sorry for posting this in this thread. I didn't, well couldn't find the right place to post it. But right now I drive an 02 mustang. As soon as I sell it im going to try and get an 05 cobalt ss/sc. The thing is ive been seeing them lately with the ss rims and the high profile wing and they say ss. But also, ive been seeing some that look like the cobalt ls. And they say ss on them too. whats the deal with that? What I want is one of the ones that have the high profile wing, the supercharher that u can really hear, bc I raced one and I couldnt here his, and has those rims. I really like them. But ive been hearing about the ones with different stage. Like 1, 2, and stage 3 cobalt ss/sc. Could someone explain to me these different appeances and help me please? If someome could message me, it would help better.

for the first few years of production Cobalts came in an SS 2.4L engine and an SS 2.0L supercharged version.

The SS/SC has different wheel and a full lip kit all the way around the body. You only want the SS/SC. You will be disappointed by anything less for the price.

Look under your trunk mat for a sticker that lists car options. G85 should be on it if you have it.

08-10 SS Turbo is what you want for the brakes and total suspension setup as well as the right power.

Check for leaks. Make sure the MAF is facing the right direction.

@umrdyldo - so they dont come with that kit? The body kit I mean, like which stage does or whatever? I want one of those, so what should I be looking for?

Sorry dont know cannot figure this out for the life of me and dont know anywhere i can post it correctly.

I just got another cobalt ss and started using my account again and i can post replies like this but it doesn't allow me to create new threads? when i attempt it brings this up:
"you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

Sorry again! not trying to hijack just cannot figure this out

Q: Do I have a ghost in my trunk?
A: Possibly, but it is more likely that the sound you are hearing is the trunk latch doing a self-test.

This freaked me out the first time I got a Cobalt. It freaks out my passengers every darn time they get in. Glad to finally know what it is. Now I can stop checking my trunk for bodies.

Hey guys.

I'm looking at a 2006 Cobalt SS and forgot to look in the trunk for the G85 tag. It does have the Recaro seats. Does that mean it should also have the LSD?

\/\/\/ Thank you, sir.

Most likely unless the owner switched them out.

How does everyone feel about sponsorships such as carsponsors.com or sponsoramerica.com?
Check out my video guys! I know its slightly cheesy, but I'm getting free parts just for making these videos!

^ Welcome, wrong place for this, but yes a 3 inch exhaust will fit, but do you really need that big? unless your car is heavily modified 2.5 inch is more than enough.
