haha nope, you may be able to get around that in a long sort of way. but you would have to have your second ECM flashed to your VIN by a GM tech and then it may work, but im not sure.
i only know its there, cause with the state Inspections here in MA the VIN is read when you plug the car in to verify VIN Match

false. read the warranty guidelines. They would have to prove that, the part installed caused the issue you brought your warranty in for.

A dealer can just "say" the aftermarket part caused the issue and then the customer has to fight to prove otherwise.
It's a potentially time consuming situation, one that I personally can't be bothered with.
Which is way I stay GM/GMPP ...

damn, this thread is nearly 2 years old... read it all, and what did i learn?
that some people have AWESOME flash skills. check out the above poster's link, hilarious. song is totally stuck in my head!!
anywho, no1 even suggested a much better idea, like... getting a 2nd blank computer like one would get from zzp or ottp, and tuning with that! so you can keep your stock untouched computer and tune the aftermarket one.
Buy a kit, get a 2nd ecu ($100 core charge, biiiig deal) and play with that. g2 stock it up? put ur old **** back on, and you're good to go.
you can either: 1) be scared of voiding warranty, and never do a thing to your car. you'll be just fine, but may or may not get fucked depending on your dealer's mood and the problem you're having. 2) mod the **** outa your car, find a friendly dealer, and either make out fine with your car, or have problems and have it fixed no problem... or 3) mod it, keep your stock stuff (especially your ecu!) be happy and go about life til something happens, in which case go back to stock and life is good.
choice 3 seems logical. besides, if a kit or a mod damages your car, i don't think i'd want it on my car anymore!! unless you break your whip from beating on it cuz ya got all this extra performance... in which case, you were gonna kill it, stock or not... except you killed it faster cuz it's modded.
anything powertrain related can be voided due to extra stresses from performance mods, i mean that's obvious... broken bell housing... exhaust manifold cracks, grenaded trannys, melted pistons... well that's the **** that happens when you step it up. you might get it fixed for free, you might not. that's life. otherwise, if it isn't in any way shape or form related to your mod, well then just explain to the stealerships your logical thinking and they should handle it like adults.
