No Supercharger Whine at all..?

I recently just bought a used 2005 SS/SC. Long story short, previous owner took horrible care of the car. Everything is running perfectly fine as it is, but there is no superchager whine whatsoever. Even if im standing infront of the open hood and have someone punch the throttle, there is no whine. I know if the supercharger wasn't working, the car wouldn't move, but is there something else that could be causing this? I know to make it loud I need an intake, but there literally is no sound at all as of now. The boost guage doesn't work (lights up but needle doesn't move) so it's hard to tell if there is any pressure.

Thanks in advance. I've searched for hours on the problem.

The one line is extremely rotted. I'll try and replace it tomorrow and let you know what happens. Thank you!

It could be just blowing off all the boost if it's that bad.

Second the dirty filter, and do the airbox mod. You'll hear some whine then and know if she is actually boosting

I'm not 100% sure if the gauge is broken or not. It lights up, but the needle has yet to move at all from the -10 psi spot.

I'll also take a look at the filter as the entire engine bay is really dirty, I wouldn't doubt it if the filter is clogged up

I replaced the vacuum lines out of the bypass valve and I can definitely hear a little whine now. I must've been blowing all of my boost pressure out of them. As for the air box mod, does it matter what filter I use or will any generic cone filter work fine? As long as it has adapter rings and can fit the 3.15" correct?

This.

I used to run the K&N E-0777 drop in with my modified airbox, but if you saw the grit that got up past where the filter seals you would understand why not to run it.

Also, the stock AC Delco, is larger, has more surface area, and flows well enough to help support 300 whp.

Could someone shoot me a link to the correct AC delco filter to use? I'm hoping one of my local autoparts stores will have it

Can't do that if you want to use the stock filter, or K&N replacement filter.

It will fall out as you are driving since it is only pressed in.

With an aftermarket filter, you can clamp it on, and just remove the bottom lid.

You should of saw a local guys filter box I fixed after he said it wasnt whining at all and lacked power. Looked like the PO tried to do the airbox mod, but didnt clamp the filter on. Filter was off the intake pipe resting on the bottom of the air box...not filtering a damn thing

I just replaced my 3 year old AEM air filter that was dirty as F*CK with a Ractive one from my local tire shop/hardware store (Canadian Tire).

HUUUUUGE difference in throttle response, and no bouncy boginess near the lower RPM range.

For 20$/filter, I am just going to replace my air filter every spring and winter rather than wasting my time trying to clean the damn thing!

I figure 40$/year could potentially save me thousands!
