street racing.

why are these people buying the cobalt ss s/c to street race. i mean yes its hard to not floor it from time to time but i mean if there is traffic, can you not endage someone elses life please. today two civics that were all riced out nearly ran into me as i was going on the on ramp back home from rush hour. i almost ran into a semi if it wasent for my second gear and me being faster than them.

i almost crashed today because of those punks who think they are some too fast tooo furious thingie.

if your gonna street race could you at least not do it in traffic and like i say in the other thread, not at 90+ mph. your just setting yourself up for something bad to happen.


i know i've raced before but i kept it saf and im not going to risk someones life jsut to see if my car can go in a straight motion faster than ther other person.

Typically if i ever street race, I never go much beyond the speed limit.

I don't think I've ever gone above 80-85 in ANY street race.

I've never had a street race where there wasn't a clear winner by the time you hit that speed

i totally agree with this thread///i dont normaly race but i have... and ive almost gotten in an accident going 118 and then my car shut down.. so mean it was scary.. but anyway.. i dont race anymore.. unless at the track and you have to be 18 to do it there so in oct ill be racing "legally lol"

Here in Syracuse it's 12 to get in and another 25 to race. They only have open runs twice a year, otherwise you have to do time trials and hope you don't get eliminated.

Seeing as how my only income is 60 dollars a week, which pays for good and gas, I have no hope of getting enough money to make it to the track...

I'm not against street racing (hear me out). If you want to race outside of a track that's fine, but do it somewhere where there is not a danger to other people besides the ones racing (that's there perogative (spelling?)) but do it on a back road or ware-house or someplace where nobody is around and if, god forbid, something goes wrong you do not hurt anyone else. Debate anyone?

i agree, be safe about it is the biggest. open highway with no traffic, backroads, warehouse. fine with me. but with traffic it screams stupid. it may not be you but some other douche who doesnt look and switches lanes at the last second.. then what??? your f**ked, the guy you hit is f**ked and when the cars spin out of control everyone else is f**ked.... stupid over some race to say my cobalt is faster then you (insert car) and then go on your way and never see them again..

here in austin some kid though he was fast enough to race a BMW in his GSR, he ended up killin his sister, and a older man..basically this is how it went down, he picked his sis up from school, on the way back he decided to be cool and race someone in a BMW(first off WTF, a BMW...what was he thinking)so they raced and there was a older man in his car, he was turing left, and since the integra was pretty far off he thought he oculd make it, he didnt kno how fast they were going though, so he didnt make the turn fast enough, he got hit by the teg and died, the boys sister who was w/him flew out the front window...she was killed, she didnt die, she was killed, he killed her, he killed the older man, he survived, he was out for a good while in the hospital, but when he came too, all i could think of was, i wonder how he feels knowing he killed his younger sister...

Yeah that guy was dumb. Especially with his sister. As stated earlier, if you are going to do it, don't endanger other people. Only those who are involved in the race.

Then you don't have enough money to cover the fallout from street racing. Tickets, insurance, and god forbid settlement money from civil suits if you injure or kill somone.

In theory that sounds great, but in reality you can never eliminate the danger to other people. The bigger problem though is, the people that do attempt to minimize danger aren't always the ones you have to worry about, it's the ones that are too stupid to NOT do it in traffic are the ones that can't control their car and end up killing people.

Uh, no offense, but the person who switches lanes is NOT the douche, it's the jackass who can't understand the highway isn't a damn racetrack is the douche. That's like saying a drunk driver wrecked because some douche bothered to stop for a redlight and the drunk plowed into them.
