What's my car worth (honestly)
Be honest I'm wondering what my car is worth in eskimo dollars, if its worth selling or parting out.
White 2010 TC G85/RPD
-225,XXX Kilometers
-Was in a small accident 3 years ago front bumper ripped off, door shunt all body damage repaired by dealer
-White/black seats and doors all in great shape, paint is fine except driver door is displaying the usual GM quality at the bottom.
-Needs new Tires
-Balance chain, timing chain and water pump replaced 3 months ago (by dealer)
-New evap purge sol, purge canister and gas cap
-New DP & cat
-Brand new Brembo's and rotors 6 months ago (by dealer)
-Brand new shift linkage installed last year (by dealer)
-100% bone stock aside from Short throw shifter
Codes are active
P0102
What would I get for it? be honest as I need to weigh out my options, not sure if I want to sink more repairs into this thing.

it really depends on if you trade it in or sell it privately. a trade in you will likely get $5k, although the dealer might tell you your getting more and it just gets tacked into the cost of the new vehicle (thats why you always agree on the price of a vehicle before you tell them you have a trade in). private sale you may get more, but the check engine light being on will turn people away. someone buying the car might look at those codes and figure it could cost them a grand to fix, so seriously lowball you. usually salesman at dealers dont care about codes, they just want the sale and it becomes someone elses problem.
if your gonna sell privately, fix the problems.

Ya, private sale or dealership? Dealer I was going to say $5-6 (depending how badly they want to sell you something), private likely $8. KM are fairly high, with issues, my numbers might be a little high.

Ya I'd probably just trade it in as I find private selling a P.I.T.A , I managed to get ride of those codes it was a mucked up EXH fuse, now it's P0102

People are having hard time selling cobalts im general low miles or high miles. It's a 2010 basically 135k miles the CEL is easily fixed. P0102 is basically a dirty or malfunctioning MAF. You mentioned typical GM quality paint? I do the under stand that as I have an 09 and the paint is fine and my 08 the paint is fine as well.... Anyway. I would say about 7 to 8k Us in excellent condition.... And drop from there for the smallnthings wrong with it.

Dealers going to offer you like 3-4grand max likely. Private sale you might get 5-6500.
At least around here in Nova Scotia. The market is terrible.
Friend sold his 09 with 107xxx kilometres full boltons tune amazing shape for 6800 after having it listed for 7500 for 3 months.

Yes I'll be getting the CEL fixed, I have to for emissions anyways, I was more just asking at this very moment if I traded in.
like I said with the amount I've spent fixing this thing in the last year-two years I need to make myself a stop limit, that means getting a feel for what it's even worth.
Thanks for the help so far everyone, I was figuring around 4-5K I'm pretty realistic when it comes to car prices lol

yeah I know... thats the only thing keeping me back is I love not having car payments but it's just one thing after another lately, it's a real buzzkill and after hearing about people with turbo's blowing up and engines falling apart past XXXX miles I get anxious that mines around the corner

Just about any type of performer type car is going to have issues past 100,000so what you are going through isn't abnormal for many cars. You have close to 150,000 miles on her and things will just keep needing fixed as that's a lot of miles. If you want less hassle then buy a lower mileage car but pay monthly for it. If you still like the car then keep fixing things that can go wrong with it. Resale on them sucks and that's why I'm never planning on selling mine. Can't get close to the performance of the car for under 10-12k anyway. It's totally up to you.

I have 111K miles on my sedan. I bought it 100% stock at 75k miles. I've been fully bolted and tune since about 80K. Not a single issue had come up. I also have HHR SS with about 110k. the only thing that has gone wrong with that was the MAF, Camshaft Position Actuators, and a broken serpentine belt. I figure I'll be keeping my sedan until it doesn't drive anymore. Hell even if the engine goesin either of them, I'd rather pay the cash for a new engine over having a car payment again.

yeah...well like I said I'm not cursing my car (much) and I'm not raging saying It's going to the curb, but I'll be honest that I've been super frustrated lately and have been thinking about getting rid of it :/

5-6K private.
Really that's pretty high mileage. And most for sale have less.
Think asking 5 for trade doesn't seem unreasonable. Especially if you're looking for buy something new or significantly more expensive.

What have you all done to the car over the last few years? I hate car payments too, but honestly at that high of km (in Ontario to boot) I might start looking into something else.

well and thats my worry, I love this car, but I'm also realistic when it comes to mileage and this type of car, I'm worried ***** gonna start going south big time and living in a condo with a busy full time job I just dont have the time OR PLACE to deal with car bullshit anymore.

The value is getting to the point of just keeping the damn thing.
Although for a lot of people 5k is a nice down payment on a new car which is where the dilemma comes in.
I figure if I keep it as a secondary car the value will stabilize at about $4k and I can get rid of it at any point in the next 2-3 years.

I would fix that CEL and then drive it until the next major problem.. Then dump it. At your point now, you have fixed some major issues and then completed maintenance (brakes). So it should be good for awhile.
But honestly, if you do plan to sell it, do not trade it in. You will get ripped off on trade in value, I would bet they offer you like 2k. You are better off selling it privately (I would list for 5-6k) and see what kind of offers you will get.
And the other thing that you need to consider, do you fix these issues yourself? If you pay the dealer to do it then you are spending a lot of money fixing issues, in that case, sell it (privately). But if you can fix things yourself (minor issues) then it is worth holding onto until something serious happens with the car.
