I doubt that it is your air filter causing it, however recheck your clamps and connections and also if need be you might have to remove the maf and clean it with a proper solution

I bought mine here - free shipping. 5" Element with a 3.25" diameter. Fits perfect, and instead of drilling a hole, I just put in a smaller deep well 8mm socket and tightened it through the top air hole.

my filter should be here friday....
*edit*
It got here saterday and I installed it today. tried to install it without taking off the tire and the whole airbox... ALMOST had it... but I needed just a liiitle bit more room to squeeze that filter on since its such a tight fit =/. sounds gooood though!

Your MAF sensor has probably gotten oil on it from the oiling of the filter. Take it out and clean it, those things are very sensitive. I let my filter sit overnite when I oiled it.
Once you clean the MAF... unplug the battery to reset the ECU, and try again.
I did my mod on Monday... no problems at all, and sounds absolutely wicked.
