another original retrofit: 3rd brake light relocation

well i have a shaved 3rd brake light and i wanted to still have the light somewhere, i felt like i was always ganna get rear ended cuz my tails r heavily night shaded also...painted more interior too, C pill;ars and rear armrest got black laid down...

Well i started out with the 3rd brakelight from an old honda civic.... and painted it black

I first pulled the rear deck... this was alot of work

you can notice the squar cut out, thats where the light will sit

i wrapped the edges in duct tape to keep from fraying

next i drilled holes to mount the light

the light was mounted and then i had to extend the wires

next i put the rear deck back in and tied up the wires

dont mind the airride

painted C-pillars and all

heres avid of the brakelights

..first off NOS is a company, the correct term is Nitrous or N2O... and no that is the air tank for the bags on his car...

i don't have tinted tails and ppl still ride my **** LOL. brake checked a crotch rocket 30 mins ago cause he was so close i couldnt see his headlight in my rear view mirror. i bet he shat himself. guess he was trying to race or something. like i'd be dumb enough to race a bike, on a public street, no less. . :P ppl in UT drive like they're suicidal.

That is my threshhold, if your headlights get below my trunk line its brakecheck time...

But to be fair i do tap my brakes at them 2-3 times just enough to flash the lights, if they dont get the hint... LOCK EM UP

likewise, i like to typically give a bit of warning, but this was a different circumstance, he was deliberately riding my bumper. Guess speed limit in a highly-patrolled area isn't good enough for some people hehe

This would be easier than doing those LEDs in the tails. If you do do this, i would reccomend mounting the light closer to the window, it is pretty far away in the how to

Same here...tap a couple times to give them a hint. If they dont get it, I push the clutch in and downshift while slowing down with the e-brake...as soon as the headlights drop, I let the clutch out and pull away. 9 out of 10 stay back after this

what if you just got an underdash led or neon tube and painted it black except for the side facing the rear of the car and put it up under the window and wired it to the brake lights. or instead of painting it, you could make a cover for it with a reflective inside so it would look brighter through the window. it would be much more low profile.
