How does this work? is it user friendly? what happens if the End user has not alot of knowledge in engine dynamics? easy to learn?
Is there a base tune? can a tune be made for track, street etc...and switched at the click of a couple buttons?

i'll try to answer the questions in one post.
The software is very user friendly, but you do need the basic understanding of air/fuel/spark and common sense goes a very long way!
Note exactly sure what you meant by interface upgrades but we used to sell our 1st generation cable (black box that converts your laptop talk to car talk) that had a serial interface to the PC. We have now release our 2nd generation cable that is a USB interface. All the features listed above with the * beside can only be used on the USB cable which we call the "MPVI".
Now, the MPVI also comes in 2 types a "Standard" version and a "Pro" version. From a software perspective both interfaces are identical, the only differnce is the Pro version has external inputs/out puts for connecting analog devices such as Wideband O2 controllers etc. *and* anlso has a few buttons for our upcoming black-box datalogging feature. This will let you scan the veicle WITHOUT requiring the laptop in the vehicle.
You can order directly from our website with payment via Paypal. In a month or so we will be annoucning our new website that will also have credit card facilities.
Hope that helps!

However, for the blackbox datalogging not quite yet. This will be in the next release. We didn't quite have enough time to complete enough testing to fit it in this release - with all the features that just came. We're looking within the next 30 days though for sure, i expect public beta will begin probably in the next couple of weeks. All software upgrades are free so if you purchased the MPVI Pro cable then it's as simple as downloading and installing the new software when it becomes available.
You can see the Record and Stop buttons on the interface here:
http://www.hptuners.com/help/vcm_sca...connecting.htm
Basically you'll be able to setup the cable when it's connected to the PC to scan the things you are intersted in, then leave your PC at home go for a drive and scan the data. Then reutrn to your PC and upload the logs you saved in the cable back to the PC for viewing. You can store multiple logs and over an hours worth of data in the cable itself before you have to upload or erase and start again.
