Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 or Asus Transformer TF300

I'm trying to decide on a tablet and was wondering if you tech savvy people can offer your opinions.

It'll be WiFi only and the main uses I'd use this tablet for is web browsing, media and the occasional game on the go, but I have a Vita for that.

Anyway, I don't want an iPad, although it's nice, I already have to much invested in Android and would rather have my apps transfer over to the bigger device. Plus I'm not a fan of iTunes at all!

Anyway I like the price of the Samsung, but the brawn of the Asus is quite nice!

I used to do repairs on tablets, and Personally I thought the Asus one was the better of the tablets.

Asus
Samsung
Acer
Toshiba

i picked up a galaxy tab 10.1 earlier in the month and love it. debated about the prime, but went with the gtab because of the screen. i will say, if you get a gtab, root it. out of the box performance is pitiful, i think i used it for a total of 30 minutes before rooting it and putting open kang on it.

one thing i'm reading about with the prime is it has wifi issues. something to keep in mind. like i said i went with the gtab for the screen over the muscle. i'm overclocked to 1.2ghz and it runs pretty good all in all. i'd say play with them in a store and see which screen you like better, and which feels better to you. or wait another month, google's having their yearly press conference thing and are going to announce more devices, including a $200 7" nexus tab running nvidia tegra 3 (a scaleable version of the processor in the prime from what i understand, but still 4 cores with a 'secret' 5th core).

The Asus TF300 is the step below the prime, but apparently has it's WiFi issues worked out on this model. Mainly because it's plastic backing over the metal. So it's really price over performance.

Cheap and good or pay for the extra power?

When's this conference thing happening exactly? I'm sure they'll have release dates announced at that time too correct?

whoops, sorry, missed that part. heh. don't know too much about the tf300, but my guess is that it's almost exactly the same as the gtab. the gtab and gtab 2 are the exact same tab, only the speaker placement is different, and the 2 comes with android 4.0. my advice, root either way. performance is awful out of the box. root it and you're good.

as far as the conference, don't know the exact date, but that it is next month, and there are tablets expected to be announced in the nexus line, which is... good. very good.

Wow, if it's only $200 that's amazing! Performance and price! Well I'll just wait then. I did go to Best buy and check out the tablets they have there. I think the Transfromer TF300 and Prime were the best, but I didn't expect to like the iPad3 as much as I did lol. It's still an iPad, but the screen to me was super nice.

For me though I still prefer the look of android more.

when i got my gtab i also picked up the new 3rd gen ipad for my fiance. the screen is amazing pretty much in every way, and the specs are also very nice. but ios infuriates me, and i can't stand using the damned thing. lol. it runs amazing, but it should considering the os is over 5 years old at this point. if you like android, don't bother with ios, you'll go insane trying to use it. so complicated in it's simplicity.
