The Official Midwest Meet: Chicago, IL - April 4-6, 2008

Welcome kiddies, to the official spring 2008 midwest meet thread! All the information here is pretty much set in stone. There are however a few loose ends that Tom from Crate Engine Depot, myself and a couple others are trying to wrap up. As updates come to me, this first page will be updated. So check back frequently! Weekend set date, Friday April 4th – Sunday April 6th. Schedule: Friday - Nothing special. Everyone from out of town will be driving to Arlington Heights, to the hotel. For the most part, this day will be a meet and greet type of thing. I personally will be sticking around the hotel to try to meet everyone as they come in. There are plenty of restaurants and businesses around the area, so if you feel the need to go out and do something, there’s plenty to do. (I will update this later with actual restaurant/local business info). Saturday - This is the big day of the event. Tom (with Crate Engine Depot) has been kind enough to host a show at Lattof Chevrolet (where Crate Engine Depot is based out of) all day on Saturday. We will have show room and bay areas (plus more) to park. Since this is more of a cobalt/ion/g5 rally, we would like to dedicate the show room and most of the bay to these types of vehicles, but of course, we will make room for everyone. Show/meet runs from 9 till 5. Lunch will be served for everyone. Saturday’s evening plan is for a huge (albeit CONTROLLED, no funny business) cruise. Location TBA. Saturday night’s activities will be addressed as a group, following the cruise. This will be more opened ended, considering people will want to go off and do different things. Sunday - Sunday we are taking it to the track! Great Lakes Dragway is having their opening weekend this weekend. It will cost 12 dollars for spectator's fee to get in but after that... free, thats right FREE 1/4 and 1/8 mile racing. We leave as a group from the hotel at 10am. This is about a hour away from the hotel and all you need is 12 dolla! SHIRTS!!! - Thanks to Tom and OutlawTees, we have midweSSt meet shirts! Block is held till March 4th, so make reservations before hand. 25 of the rooms are doubles, the other 5 are king (for you couples ) and all rooms contain a pull out couch, so 3 people can sleep in a room. Price is 89 per night (a little more than i wanted, but still pretty cheap, especially when split with 3 people). March 4th is how long the rooms will be set aside by the hotel for us exclusively. They will be put back open to the public after the 4th, but you can still reserve them for our rate if you call after the 4th. One thing to note, whoever makes the reservation and checks the room in, you HAVE to be 21. I don't know why, that’s just how they do it there. Couple nice things, they have free wireless, so we can whore it up on the thread while we are there. . The lady also said that she'd open up the conference room for us for breakfast on both saturday and sunday (free hot/cold breakfast btw). bring your trunks too!!! This is looking to be the biggest cobalt/ion/g5 get together to date. You don’t want to miss this! I REIGN SS, was asked to add this: To whom this may concern, I would like to address a few things regarding the Midwest Meet. If your planning on coming to the Midwest Meet congrats this is going to be a great weekend to show off your car, meet fellow css.net members, and other car enthusiast. Before this weekend even starts team rev, Hoffa, and myself would like to address a few things involving the meet. First regarding any and all notions towards off track racing; like most car meets people tend to get squirrely and want to show off or run there cars, that’s fine and dandy but take it 45 min north to the Great Lakes Dragway. We want nothing to do with street racing and its antics or consequences. We catch you street racing don’t even bother coming back to the hotel your not welcome! The last thing we want is the police coming back to the hotel and giving us a hard time or even worse telling us that a css.net member plastered them selves into a tree. If it happens we don’t know you, keep it on the track. Secondly, the hotel has rooms reserved for us but we did not book the entire hotel and do not have it hotel to are selves; so please be respectful in the parking lot, try not to be loud walking though the hotel, and think about other guests, also try to keep public drunkenness under control! We want everyone to have fun, but please just don’t get out of hand. Also if you’re going to go out on the town and drink alteast try to have a designated driver, otherwise we can figure something out for you. If I..."nramlow2006" find out that you hopped into your car drunk I will personally knock your teeth out, drunk driving is not cool and will not be tolerated there are plenty of people that will have no problems with picking you up. we would like to make this a yearly event that we all can injoy. reputation follows larges meet everywhere you go. lets make it a positive meet for everybody evolved. so in review please be respectful of laws, the hotel and its guess. also Hoffa has an official schedule of events that are taking place during the day but, team rev is willing to take a group of guys up to either cruise hwy 100 or got to Great Lakes Dragway both about 45-1hr away from the hotel. each are a complete blast. I will call my buddy to see if his shop is willing to do a dyno day with us. But I will need to know what day we would want it and just how many people are wanting to dyno. I am not sure the hours of his shop on the weekends and I know that they are really busy year round. But that doesnt mean I cant ask and see what he says. The park I was talking about would be a great place to kick back and have a good time. It is easy to get to and I am more than happy to meet up with people and have them follow me.

Saturday: go to C.E.D- go to a park afterwords for a grill out(PARTY). then a photoshoot. go to rooms,(PARTY)
Sunday: go to a Track or dyno. -depart for home

ok, serious question. I am desining the tee shirts now. do we want a base, stock looking cobalt, or a Balt with, say,..Aftermarket wheels, tint, lowered. ground effects. custom paint, stuff like that? I dont want to use anyone's car, i just want to use a generic one.

99.9% (except the ram) have modded balts anyways
