*MN* - CED 2011 info/chat
CED MEET 2011 _ MN ROOM
Date:
June 24th, 25th and 26th (Fri-Sunday)
We head out from MN early Friday morning.
Hotel:
Hampton Inn
2061 Shell Drive
Libertyville, Illinois 60048
(847) 680-8828
Rooms will be held under "CrateEngineDepot"
$89.00 per night.
Friday AM meeting location:
Meeting up at 6AM
Maybe Perkins in Hudson like last year???
Keeping cost down:
* Share rooms
* Carpool - if you'd like.
* 5-10mph max over the speed limit on route out and back. The speeding tickets in Wis are spendy...trust me a few years back they pull us all over and handed them out.
what to bring:
* folding lawn chair
* hat - sun burn sucks
* sun block
* roll of quarters for tolls
* whatever it is you like to drink
* snacks / munchies
* GPS - unless you like being lost, LOL
* 2-way radios (walkie talkies)

Should you do something fun to your car? YES
P and I did the Polizei theme last year so thats now old news, please do something different.
Try to keep it clean. We will already stick out and we'd rather not have any contact with the highway patrol.
Remember your not required to do anything, this is just for fun.

Also, that hotel has stupid ass employees & management so when you call to get a room be very specific on what you want....2 beds, etc.
If I go I wont be reserving a room under my name this time around, Im sure Im on some sort of red flag list.

So to cut costs down (assuming I come up with the money to go)...can I just sleep in their parking lot in my car? lol
I will be a TBD if you don't mind. It won't be a problem getting time off for work, but I'm not sure if I can afford it financially or what my son's mother will think of the idea...she knows about it, but I'm not sure if we can agree to let her have him all weekend and I'll take him some extra days for the following week or two.
I don't know when you will have plans for rooms, but if at all possible to split one with someone, that would be very helpful...even if I have to sleep on the floor...I can bring a sleeping bag or cot or whatever.
If I do go, I will be in my own car just because I don't want to bore people...plus I would be bored not driving and since I have never driven a stick, I don't think you want to teach me while on a road trip.
That is all for now, I will update when things become more finalized.
BTW, one more question, how many hours approx. is it to get there and how about those tolls...does one roll of quarters cover it? I've never gone past Road America so I have no idea what Illinois is like.

One more thing...will there be walkie talkies or what for communicating? Anything else I should know or plan to budget...I need to figure about what it will cost fuel wise as well so that I can make sure to over budget for this trip if I go.
