CobaltSS 16 TVS Build Thread
#105
I may just turn this into an update thread... so ill post some new things going on from time to time.
I just bought some new power grid adjustable front sway bar links. Hope that fixes my damn front end clunk... really getting tired of it ... These will be replacing my moogs. they were okay, but i read a few reviews that the power grids are far superior.
Took off my carbon fiber trunk... the finish was terrible. The clear coat pealed and was getting to a point where it was almost unfixable. Actually working with a vendor on here and will be getting the trunk redone with a twist
Got this cool e85 gas cap last week lol.

I should take some pictures of my trunk. Its an extreme dimensions one.
I am embarrassed for them. I can't believe they are still in business. I'll never buy any products from them again.
I spoke to them months ago, and they wouldn't warranty it because it was over their one year policy.

I have some experience with carbon fiber work. I still have the epoxy gel from my CF project last year. I did some researching and it may be something I will be doing. I only need a small amount of gel on one corner... everything else the clear is still there. I need to fix that corner, wet sand with high grit and then use a UV clear coat... polish and wax. (in a nutshell basically)... its something I don't have a problem handling, i just don't have a lot of time nowadays.
I saw one on FB a couple weeks ago and was toying around the idea of picking it up. Truth of the matter is i finally got my current M62 setup running the way I wanted it to since converting to e85 a while back. Seemed to have a bunch of gremlins keep popping up. So now i want to finally enjoy this setup for a bit (who knows how long that will last lol.) I may go ported head/cams/springs route and run it with my ported M62... possibly go for that #1 spot (m62 category) on the dyno thread
I ended up getting an item (or items for that matter) that easily surpasses the price of a used TVS. Came down to those 2 options... I ended up going with something that makes the appearance pop instead of the power route.... well just because... I'm a ricer
Not gonna lie I kinda agree with you... rocking a stock wingless trunk now... definitely looks sleek and the fit and finish is a lot better. But I miss my CF trunk. Gives my car a bit more character so I will end up putting that back on once its redone. The black and CF are so close in color (especially when its dark or cloudy out) it blends pretty well. Plus I have quite a bit of other CF parts on my car so it enhances the other pieces IMO

Car is filthy but what I got for now lol.
Still tweeking some kinks, rear wheel is rubbing a bit on the brake line so need to adjust it and push it a couple mm back. These bad boys are 9.5" wide so it's a tight squeeze. My fenders are rolled and fronts slightly pulled... Tires are stretched.... Kinda like the look but may go a little wider next set of tires. Lip is pretty crazy.
Absolutely love them. Had my brother driving up and down the block while I was diagnosing the sound/rubbing and they flow amazing with the car. Car looks like it's floating on the road when it gets moving.
