no luck with selling the cobalt yet but still went and bought another vehicle anyways.
needed to haul the family and be winter capable so i bought a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L.
i love it so far. reliability ratings are through the roof which helped sell me on it. it is fully loaded.
Pearl Metallic White, 3.5L V6 with VTEC, Seats 8, 4X4, leather, heated seats, compass, information display, tinted windows, stereo with subwoofer, sunroof, projector headlights, A/C, power everything, 6 disc changer, the list goes on. picked it up for $7,250CDN. it has just over 200,000km or 124,000 miles on it which isn't much for a honda.
had my mechanic check it over and all it needs is rear pads and rotors soon and there is a CEL from catalytic converter efficiency which i could care less about. (he told me i could change the cat or just leave it, it didn't matter that much)
it drives nicely and the wife is happy. win win.

When I think of honda with vtec I imagine a civic or something like that with a huge can on the back not my personal favorite thing but if it serves for what you need that's all that matters

lol smart asses. i do like it alot though. amazing shape and it works good. looked at cherokee, XL7, durango, explorer, acadia and santa fe.
santa fe was the only one out of the group that didn't have horrible reliability ratings on alot of sites i checked but try and find AWD and 7 passenger seating at all nevermind in my price range. the others listed all had alot of posts with common issues with each model ranging from transmissions, 3-5 gear waveplates, radiator problems, sludge buildup, etc. alot of disturbing stuff and alot of posts describing the same problems over and over.
i didn't even consider a pilot until my cousin said how much he liked his.. i searched and couldn't find a single bad review. also saw it listed as top SUV in it's class for years running. needless to say i was sold.
i posted it in an ecotec group i follow and of course a few guys had to go on like honda motors are junk and ecotecs are way more reliable.
i love my balt and the lnf is a solid motor but as a general rule, honda motors are top of the food chain for reliability by most standards.. i did a google search of most reliable motor and needless to say most lists, posts, sites referenced honda multiple times. didn't find too many listing ecotecs haha
i think this guy was nutswinging a bit.

looks good. if the transmission hasnt been done, expect it to be an issue in the future. i used to specialize in honda transmissions, they arent complete junk, but they do have their issues, especially the v6 suv units. just a heads up. aside from that, they are wicked vehicles.

drives smooth on the highway and in town so far.. i would think with the mileage it has already if it was going to start shaking badly it would have by now.
Transmission shifts smoothly and i checked a few sites regarding car complaints and defects and transmissions doesn't seem to be a big problem. biggest problem was windshields.

i agree with you man, as long as i have been in the car game and as much as i hate hondas, well the owners lol, their motors are def the most reliable lol. like i said nice pick up and i just saw a brand new 2015 pilot last night talk about nice!!!

this thing doesn't move. i mean it's not bad, it's a strong V6 with 244hp but it's still a big vehicle at 4,500lbs. pickup isn't too bad but it's not rocket ship. my wife tried to race me on the highway and i was in her kia forte 154hp and it had no problem pulling away from the pilot.
im sure the 4WD doesn't help it any either haha

the 4wd system doesnt engage unless it detects tire spin. the outputs on the rear diff have clutch packs (much like in an auto trans) thats are controlled electronicly. when the abs system detects front wheel spin it engages the rear wheels to prevent the spin.
there is nothing you can do to prevent the transmission failures. one common problem is in the valvebody. basicly as a valve wears is causes the lockup clutch in the torque converter to drag and eventually causes it to burn up. your only warning on this is itll set a code p0740- trans component slipping. this is common in all v6 hondas. the other common failure is the 2nd gear clutch drum, the torrington bearing inside them fails and causes a giant mess.
