i raced him and he was fast he was modded too so... i give respect to them all motor too.....

dnasty88 Jun 9, 2009 10:45 PM

arent the 08's faster?

FutureEcotecOwner Jun 10, 2009 12:35 AM

I believe the 03-05's are about the same in performance, the 06's are alittle faster, and the 07-08's are quite a bit faster. The 07-08's have seen low 13 second 1/4 mile times stock, so watch out if it's a newer one.

cardelino18 Jun 10, 2009 08:50 AM

i have race them and you have to be carefull if ur stock... if u have a tune u should be more than fine... just dont race them from a dead stop....

OzzyruleZ Jun 10, 2009 09:15 AM

I wish I could race a SS/TC :(

Why wouldn't I? I run very consistent 13.5's and dip into the 13.40's at Gainesville Raceway on typical race days. Judging by the official stock 1/4 times for the stock TC, it looks like it would be a very good race. Ego much?

With those times you shouldn't have any trouble with one. Trouble as in being beat as bad as cmiller thinks you would. That's IF you get beat.

I think you would win stock vs stock for sure

OzzyruleZ Jun 10, 2009 06:42 PM

I still think there is a few 1/10's in my car, I have yet to hit a 1.9 60' time and every time I go to the track the DA is over 1000ft, the tracks actual elevation is 160ft... Florida weather blows, one time the DA was around 600ft and the car was doing 13.6's @ 106mph with 2.3 60's because the cheap asses didn't prep the track that day. I think if i could have gotten my usual 2.0 60's I could have touched the 13.2's and definitely ran a 13.3

I think this car is more dependent on the weather than my SS/SC ever was. I've seen traps as low as 101mph with it. Its really weird, actually. I've always thought boosted cars suffered from weather changes worse but I'm starting to think I was wrong. Just going by my typical times and the list on this site, I'm pretty sure me and the driver of a stock TC would be looking through each others windows as we crossed the line.

Stock for stock, an 07-08 Z has a really good chance at beating an SS/TC. Now get a tune and it's a different story, but stock vs stock you would be surprised.

Atleast the tracks you go to that prep it sometimes, I have only raced on a prepped track once, and that was with about 50 other cars and I was just getting used to my car. I was running low 9's, but trapping mid 80's in the 1/8 mile, while I seen other guys who were getting traction run 8.5-8.6 and trap around 79-80mph, trust me, it was heart breaking to see.

Yeah it does suck, I usually go to the track on Saturdays but it always seems to be crappy weather, but they prep the track good because the real racers are there in the hardcore cars. I work nights so its hard for me to go to the Wednesday night TnT but I knew the weather was supposed to be awesome that night so I put in for the night off.

The weather was great that night. About 68* with a tailwind, and low humidity. My first pass I launched like usual, I moved maybe 2in before the tires blew loose... In and out of the throttle it kept spinning them and tried to thru 2nd too... I got like 8 runs in, I launched at lower and lower RPM's. I had traction issues off idle and I usually launch at about 4500RPM when its sticky... It seems they don't bother to prep on the Wed TnT because its all street cars. Man it was depressing...

I automatically was thinking any TC, stock for stock on the dragstrip you beat 95 percent of ss/tc's for sure.

350Z vs Cobalt SS/TC Stock vs Stock the 350Z will win.. .if the LNF has a tune.... there is no way the 350 will win, not even the 370Z stands a chance.... tell you from experience.... the Z's have too much low power witch our TC's have a bad ass 2-3rd gear thats when we murder them.... and 4-5th gear we keep the distance we took on them from 2-3rd...

ItalianJoe1 Jun 12, 2009 09:30 AM

Only an 07-08 Z with the HR motor (the one with the bulge in the hood) will give you trouble. Night and day power difference compared to the early cars. I ran a very well bolted up 03-05 style Z in my completely stock 08 and he could barely pull one car length on me.

Also, a stock 370Z is not faster than a late 350Z, one car-length is usually all I get pulled by, in 3rd gear it seems. A bolted up HR Z can easily hit 300whp, it's a dangerous car, especially in the lower speed range. Car has nasty pull in 1st/2nd gear, with a 3.9/4.08 rear end, the accelleration doesn't drop off much from there. I ran a fully bolted 08 Z in my Cobalt, and he kept up quite well. My car on that setup would have slapped an LNF car silly.

Why wouldn't you expect to win against a stock Cobalt SS? Z's consistently run $8,000-$10,000 more than a Balt SS. Judging by that kind of logic, maybe we should pit a ZR-1 against the 370-Z. Balt SS's will run a 14 flat and only cost 24k. Jealous much?

:)

Way to dig up an old post just to talk shit.

A base Z carries a $29K sticker, and is much more car than even an LNF cobalt could ever hope to be.

i know i raced a 05 with intake plenum spacer and exhaust from 50 i was in third he got the jump and i stayed with him and started to come back on him near 100, im intake header exhaust and a tune....

ColeJJones Jun 29, 2009 02:58 AM

beat one on a stage 2...

DjJoeski87 Jun 29, 2009 11:31 AM

I beat my buddies 05 350 barly... look at my sig. To see what I have and so far he has full exaust(headers back). With better tires he wouldn't have on me. I have friggin venturas need to upgrade bad. All in all stock for stock. Dig: ss/tc < 350z. Roll: ss/tc > 350z

cardelino18 Jul 1, 2009 09:20 AM

look at my kill list. if you have this mods you should be beating them....
CIA Charge pipping, Dejon SRI, Triffecta tune, Custom 3' Straight exhaust, catles DP.

ODUB Jul 2, 2009 10:39 PM

i wouldn't mind running an SS/TC

Cobalt08tc May 21, 2010 12:55 AM

I raced my friends 05 350z in my 08 tc and he took me off the start and he pulled a little in low 2nd but I started to catch him and passed him upper 2nd into 3rd. From a 40 roll or so though I think I would stay in front. Both cars were stock by the way
