What the hell is this?
I went to get gas, and I left the acc power on. My radio and headlights were still on.
The DIC said "BATTRYSAVR" but nothing seemed different in the car itself.
Could my HID's be draining that much power, or is my battery shot?

well ur hids should actually use less power than regular halogen bulbs, so that shouldnt have anything to do with it

I know they use less power, but I wonder if they run at higher Amp's, I'm not too good with that electrical knowledge. I don't have a subwoofer or amp in the car.

Here's what was on,
Sirius radio unit (small, cheap, hard-wired)
radio
headlights/tailights

I would say yer battery is toast.....i ran my stereo for 3 hours with the car off before i got the battery saver message so i thinks you need to be looking for a better battery than the stock POS.....Later

The BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE message will display on the driver information center (DIC) when the vehicle enters a load shed 2 event. Refer to for load shed 2 setting criteria.

Rear defrost, heated mirrors, heated seats cycled OFF for 50% of their cycle. The BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE message will be displayed on the DIC.

thanks for the advice, does it need to be filled with water, or do I just need a new one?
another dumb question, what's the warranty on our batteries?

Take it out and have it tested,If it comes out bad then Buy a new one .
But when you have 10v only, thats normally indicates a bad cell(2 volts per cell,6 x 2 = 12v)

Did you get the car started when in battery saver mode ,If so I guess the battery saver mode does work !

yea, it started up, i even turned everything off, opened the door so the radio and lights shut off, then started it again
i just drove 4 hours last night rescuing somebody in the snowstorm on the thruway, and i was worried about my battery dieing when i stopped to get gas, but it worked
looks like i'm off to autozone for a free battery test

Stock batteries usually aren't the greatest. it is pretty typical to have to replace it after 3 - 5 years and occasionally sooner. I would just buy a new, good, battery.

You cannot add water to the battery it is sealed. Most car batteries now are all sealed and do not require adding water.

is there anything to gain from upgrading from our stock battery to a new one? I know if you are running a nice system in a car yes but otherwise what would be the benefit?

ive used them in all my cars, and i havent had any problems related to batteries yet.

Sorry to bump and old thread, but I think this is what happened to my girlfriends '06 LT
(Keep in mind its original battery, MN weather)
We went to get gas and I left the car on ACC while I pumped the gas outside.
Went to go start it and I got the GM dead battery clicking noise.
Gauges went crazy, lights were flashing on the dash and radio. Headlights still had Hi and Low so I pondered about if the battery was really dead or not. After checking the cables in the back and at the alternator I tried it again, this time I turned off the lights and bam, car started.
A CEL came on for ECT low voltage imput and it stayed on for 2 days until it was cleared. While clearing it in the shop the "Battery Saver On" and "Check Charging Sys" went on.

Car cranks, but I question If the weather has taken its toll and now the battery is toast...

check your grounds, you never know.

if you still seem to kill batteries, you way have to hook an Ammeter up and pull fuses out one by one until you notice that the draw of amerage falls, that would be the circuit that is satying "on" and draining your Battery

I'm talking about during driving. No power drains when the car is off. It only drains when it's running. The usual problem is that the alternator isnt giving off any charge

Last year I replaced my battery with some walmart kind and that POS is already low this winter

Hang on, I reccomend only ONE battery when people are requesting something better than stock.

absorbed glass mat batteries are pretty much THE standard, since they don't allow for sulfation of the plates. I mean, eventually all batteries degrade so don't plan it as a do all end all, but I'm hear to tell you even optimas fail, the unfortunate thing is, most of the time an optima just suddenly has a dead cell for no explainable reason...but they do generally last 5-7 years at or near full capacity, not a miracle by any stretch since most interstate batts will do that too at half the price.

The big thing here is the battery is light as hell and cranks 2,000 amps.
