It seems worse on hot days. It'll be fine when I first turn it on, but once the car warms up the ac will cut out for a minute or two. The compressor doesnt engage when this happens. Then all of a sudden it will kick on and blow cold for a few minutes.
If I'm cruising on the highway it stays cold the whole time. It's when I stop or am accelerating in stop and go traffic when it gets warm.
There are no leaks and .9lb of refrigerant is in the system. Any ideas? Bad compressor/clutch?

Mine did this after the ZZP canned tune went in with the 2.9 and 60's.
On the freeway it will freeze you out but sitting the pump will turn off for a min and then kick back in. When I punch the gas it will cut out as well.

I'll check the A/C fan operation and report back.

A/C worked fine when I left work and during the whole drive to the food place. The car sat for probably 20 minutes before I got in it again. I turned the a/c on and the compressor turned on, but as soon as I started backing up the compressor shut off and never came back on. I drove back to work and let it idle for 10 minutes with both the a/c button and recirc pressed, fans on max, yet the compressor never kicked back on. The car was blowing hot air the entire time.
WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS THING?! I want to keep the car but I can't drive in a suit and tie with black leather interior and no a/c. It's **** like this that goes wrong that pisses me off.

Update: got in after work after the car had been sitting for a couple of hours. Started the car up and turned everything on max w/ recirc and got nothing. I took out the relay for the ac clutch and when I put it back in it went POP! and the whole system started up again. It was great the whole way home except for when I was idling for a few minutes it briefly cut out. Once I started driving it kicked back on. So bad relay?
Update 2: swapped relays with the inter cooler pump. That thing was HOT! Ac stayed on while idling the whole time, I turned the ac on and off and every time I turned it on the compressor stayed on.
Swapped the relay back and it began cycling before stopping altogether. So I'm going to replace the relay and hopefully that'll be the end of it. Fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc.

So the relay coil is over heating and dying. I wouldn't swap it with the IC pump for long but yea go get a new one and let us know.

I had a mechanic who's been doing this for over 30 years recharge it and it did the same thing 5 minutes after he recharged it with .9 lbs.
It's something electrical, probably the HVAC controller in the center stack since the lights flicker on and off on it. Probably a short somewhere. I just don't give a **** any longer to keep messing around with it. Enough is enough

It's been to the a/c mechanic already, he diagnosed it as a bad compressor/clutch but I think it's electrical.

If you think it is electrical then hotwire wire that thing and see if the problem persists. If you hotwire(jumper) it right at the plug then you can say yes or no to the pump.
