Car not starting new battery and brand new starter

Sorry if this is the wrong thread brand new here, I just recently acquired a 2006 cobalt ss supercharged for super cheap, the guy said it needed a new clutch and had started taking it apart, I got it changed the clutch and slave cylinder, batter was toast so I bought a brand new red top optima battery, housing on starter was broke replaced that with a new one got everything put back together and hooked up go to turn the key everything shuts off like its trying to start it but nothing happens, so I though maybe the neutral safety switch was bad so jumped it to make it where it should start without the clutch pushed in, but that didn't work either, if you jump the starter it turns over but the key will not turn it over any help would be appreciated

Car not starting new battery and brand new starter

There's always the MAP sensor/harness you could check out, seems to be a problem with our cars wanting to start. Unplug it and plug it back in, if it starts then buy new MAP and harness, been seeing threads about that on here.

You are missing a ground and/or the starter is hooked up wrong.
There should be two big gounds hooked up to the frontmost top trans to block stud. There should be two bigger power wires under the post of the fuse box. There should be a ground on the starter that goes into a harness that has a ground attached to the crash beam.

Does this help at all? It is looking at the starter from underneath the car. It shows how the wires should be hooked up.

So my starter is hooked up like that in the picture, I pulled coils and plugs to see if I was getting spark and nothing, fuel pump comes on and everything works like it's supposed to if you supply the voltage to it, I've been reading that the crank position sensors control the starting spark gonna run tests on it tomorrow, but as far as I can tell the grounds are all there and hooked up, and no fuses are blown, and all relays work, gonna do the test on the crank sensor then go from there and I will def double check the ground wires, and no the security light is not on in he car it comes on when you turn the car on but shuts off after like 2 seconds

So, let me make sure I understand....

You turn the key and nothing happens. No crank, no click, only the accessories turn off like you'd expect.
You jump the starter and it cranks.

So why are you wasting your time checking for spark and crank triggers if the engine won't even turn over??? Those are things you would be checking if it cranks but does not start. You need to be looking at the clutch start switch, and the starter wiring/grounds.

You said you bypassed the clutch start switch, but are you sure you bypassed the correct one? There are two. One is mounted vertically, and one is mounted horizontally. The horizontal one is the correct one.

Steering column

I had an issue with my car starting one day and not starting on the next, found that a wire from the ignition inside the steering column was grounding out. Fix that and haven't had a problem since.

Hmm I'll get in there and check that, so it would be the one that the button releases when you push the clutch in rather than the one on the back side that gets pushed in and I will check a wire in the ignition
