F35 Grinding Noise / No Power Output
I went to the track yesterday to an road course event. I just started the 2nd session. And a shift from 3rd to 2nd gear went bad. I thought that I missed a shift. And I tried 2nd again. Nothing. I tried 3rd gear. Nothing. I rolled to a stop off the track. Same thing for all gears. Clutch feels fine. But the point of engagement causes a terrible grinding sound to come from the gearbox. The tranny is still holding fluid and its parts inside of the case.
I probably caused this some how. It has been 246,000 miles of abuse. And last weekend I pulled a trailer 900 miles.
And I just replaced the shifter bracket with the SS/TC version 2 weeks ago.
What do you guys recommend to get this working right away? This is my daily driver. It is at a transmission shop in Bowling Green, KY now. They said they will know more about what the problem is Wednesday. I live about 90 miles away and don't have the skills or tools to do the work myself.
I am thinking about a replacement F35 from Powell. Or letting the shop fix the problem on their own. Either way, I will replace related parts below:
clutch - ZZP South Bend Stg 3 or OEM LSJ Upgrade
fly wheel - OEM
throw out bearing - Upgraded version
clutch pipe
axle seals - ZZP
Anything else I should get?
GM can build quality. It probably would have made it the 4,000 miles to a total of a quarter of a million miles if it wasn't for the increased power.

UPDATE: I got my car back from the mechanic. He replaced the DR axle.
This is one I replaced about 50,000 miles ago with a AutoZone replacement due to a CV boot leak. Yes, it was cheaper to replace the axle then to get a new CV boot from GM.
I declare the axle is a now a wear item on my car. As a result, my car continues on it path to a quarter million miles without any major problems.
There is a slight gear oil leak. He said it wasn't from the seal, but something holding the axle to low. I didn't understand what he mean and will call him tomorrow.
