p0117 -- Coolant temp
Find your temp sensor and trace the wires. Make sure it is hooked up. Replace the sensor. Circuit is low meaning it is a dead sensor or does not have enough power to it.
p0166 -- Rear o2
Double check this is your code since this is typical on cars with multiple banks and we only have one. This is found on cars that have the V or boxer shape.
Regardless, check your rear o2 harness. do you have a cat?
p1406 -- EGR recirc code
Good luck. We do not have EGR valves.
With you having two codes that are not indicative of a cobalt, I would check your PCM. It should say E69 on it somewhere. If not run the part number on it through google.
You may need to flash a tune on the car as well.
Something is funky with your car....

We also do not have bank 2 rear o2 sensors.
From the manual it looks like it is on the rear passenger side of the engine in between the heater hose inlet and outlet on the thermostat Housing.
If it is plugged in and wiring is good, replace the sensor. If its still having that issue, you may have a thermostat problem, PCM issue related to those other two codes, or a massive air pocket in the cooling system.
Does the dash read --- under coolant temp?

I haven't been driving it except the first day I got it out the shop. I drove it from the shop to home. I was real easy on it. Didn't go no faster than 40 mph

Everything seems plugged. So I'm guessing dead wire. I'm looking for a shop to bleed the system and refill. Cause I'm guessing just adding coolant won't fix it even though the coolant tank is low. Like I say the car has been for a year and half.

Added coolant. Let it idle for a while. Drove it around the apartment complex. I went to add more coolant but it didn't need any. So I went across the street to advanced auto parts to get the codes pulled again. Still have p0017 and p0016. Now I also have p0243. Something about turbo or supercharger solenoid.
