really annoying exhaust rattle
hey guys, i have this very annoying problem,
ever since i put in my trans inserts, whenever i downshift really hard and the revs linger up high, or take off with not quite enough gas (when it idles rough at like 1000-1200 rpm) i get this rattle that is def. coming from my exhaust.
i just put in my magnaflow a while ago and got it welded.
i dont think the exhaust is leaking and everythings tight. I checked the heatshield and i think some of the cheap clips were broken but nothing i could see what touching the exhaust
now, what should i do?
i dont think its leaking, and i hope i dont have a bad cat, resonator or muffler....i wish i could say it was the heat shield, but then again not sure...
i searched and didnt find any real definitive answer
any help?
thanks

When I put the new cat on my car I just barely bumped the heatshield unscrewing the o2 sensor and it made it rattle just of idle.
I would try putting the car on ramps and letting someone rev it and see if you can get a better idea where it's coming from.

Broken baffle in resonator. Place car on jack stands, pound the resonator lightly with a rubber mallet. You will hear you're sound. And since you welded this on, it aint gonna be pretty. If its under warranty, make sure they send you a new gasket/hardware and not just the resonator. If you didnt weld this to the downpipe, you will need two new screws too in case you bust one. I broke my buddies bolts fixing his.. but it was a civic so who cares... j/k

Well first make sure its the resonator. Tap it lightly with a mallet. If you hear that rattling sound coming from the resonator then you will have to saw it and send it back.
Why weld an exhaust on thats under warranty? Man, I feel bad for you having to deal with that crap.

Good news. Its a good feeling to get this **** behind you. Good luck on the welds, thats going to be an ass pain. Do you know if they shipped you a new gasket? Screws? I would have asked for a gasket at the least.
