running rich (p0172) after cold air intake

Hey guys so i put an ebay cold air intake with dryflow filter and injen hydroshield on and shortly after i get a p0172 code.. i thought you get a lean code from cold air intakes? Could the filter not be sucking in enough air? Should i try replacing the filter with a k&n? Or would you think a tune would fix it? Thanks! Btw its an lsj balt

See if you can return it and do an air box mod like staged has. It will flow way better than an ebay intake

Would i be able to use the stock paper airbox filter with the airbox mod? I probably wouldnt need a hydroshield with the airbox mod right? My hydroshield is too small and would rather not buy another one if i dont have too..

If you modify your box like mine, than yes, you can use the factory air filter.

No hydro shield needed. The box will provide adequate water protection.

Awesome! So you only drilled holes on the bottom cover? Did you get any codes from this?

well I just went off on my own and did my own thing. It's not the prettiest but I made sure there was no hanging/loose plastic and washed it all out and ground off all excess plastic. I just need a drop in filter now and I'll order that Friday. Can hear the turbo a little more now, just needs to be opened up with the filter now.

Yes only drill holes on the bottom cover.

Never had a code from the modified box or any intake on my car.
