its possibly a similar noise to what i hear on and off again....im a firm beleiver its my timing chain tensioner. and itll go away off idle when oil pressure rises. The dealer pretty much couldnt do anything for me they said with 1200miles, so i wish the best of luck to you. I took the CAI outta mine when i brought it back just to be on the safe side.

***when its happening, listen down into the timing chain cover area(pasenger side) and let me know!, btw what year is your car?****

Dude, i ahd this same rattle. They told me something in my cat broke so they ahd to replace it. rev to like 2k and hold it there with ur door open see if it goes away. test with diff. set RPM's cuz i did with mine at 2k and it went away. but i didnt see a changein boost or anything. just have them check ur cat.

i get a rattle out of my engine bay, but i;m convinced that it's the throwout bearing in the clutch pack... other than that, the engine/supercharger seem quiet. The car has 7700 miles on it.

A cheap mechanics stethascope ,put a long screw driver handle against your ear and touch the other end on the super charger while the car is making the noise and you should hear just a swirling type noise if the bearings are good or a rattley clicking noise if they are going bad. Try it and you will be able to pin point where the rattle is coming from pretty quickly by listing this way to different parts of the engine
Waring watch your hair and loose clothing around the moving parts.

OK i took it to the dealer, they replaced the supercharger...
But they are freaking stupid, before they had installed the supercharger I called them and told them that i had Stage 2 and i wanted my 3.0 pulley installed back with the GM st.2 belt
so on friday they called and told me that the car was ready. I go there and the guy that was helping me told me that the pulley was inside the car, " I was like whatta hellllllll..." the guy told me that they couldn't take out the stock pulley. I was like "are you jking? I don't care if you can't get the stock pulley off the s/c thats not my prob. then they told me take your car and bring it back on Tuesday the 26th... then I asked then " Is it OK to drive the car with the car setup with stage 2 but running the stock pulley??" the guy din't know the answer and he was just sitting and looking at my face. I was like " Call someone and find out," I think when this is all over Im gonna trade this car... I know they got me Mad. OH and guess what they left inside the car... they left that nose piece with out the pulley.
I go back in the office and told them where is the pulley and belt?? Im thru with this ****... they still have my car even thou its closed I WANT MY CAR BACK. Oh, and im only 20 and they couln't give me another car, so i had to bring my "Mommy" to get another car for me..., OH yeah, the the 2004 Impala stinks like ASS, the front right tire keeps going flat (not all the way but it needs air every day) this car drives like ****. I'll keep you posted with how long are they gonna take to change a pulley.
