Well, the front pads and rotors were replaced before I bought the car. The rear rotors looked like a damn record from all the grooves. Chevy resurfaced them (lol bandaid fix), but 37.48 miles later they're grooving again.
So yes, they're terrible, but they still make the car stop.

I purchased all 4 whells although my front brakes are still good.. I'm still going to save $$ in the end if I only change the rears for now and keep the OE fronts untill they die..

They all do that on the surface of wear the pads come in contact with the rotor. (There is no rust protection there because the pads burns it right off). Drive your car and brake on it, all that rust will come right off.
If you are worried about rust in the crevices of the holes and slots, get a high temp spray paint and spray the entire rotor lightly, evenly and one coat. Set it dry, and install on your vehicle. The pads will do the rest of the job by taking off the excess of paint, everywhere else will stay black for the most part.
