Who use's car covers? Custom/Generic

Hey guys,

Just wondering how many Cobalt owners use a car cover. I have a custom car cover for my TC as I'm on an island, so salt from the ocean can ruin your pait with time. I bought one and love it. Its sized perfect for my TC. I would like to see yours and if you have a pic, even better. I'll try getting a pic of mine up soon. Thanks

I've never lived with snow. Is it snow that's bad for your car or the salt they throw on the highway?

got pics?

My car is stored from the winter snow/salt in a secure, heated storage garage with little to no dust (good filtering in HVAC system).

I'm still curious about seeing your custom cover, would you be able to share a few photos?

Thanks!

It's the salt, which quickly rusts your car winter after winter. Even with the rust-proofing oil or wax treatment, there are bound to be crevices which begin to bubble, IME.

i think its the salt thats killer. it gets in everywhere under your car and corrodes all kinds of things.

i wanna see the custom cover too. i read about one that had the option where you could tell them whether you had a high rise or low rise wing. and of course it had mirrow cutouts that covered the mirrors but still let the rest still be form fitting to the car.

i have a regular one from walmart, the only time i put it on the car is when i wash and wax it and have a meet to go to the next day or when i go on vacation for a weekend or longer. then it sits in my parents drive-way with the cover on it.. otherwise.. it's never on..

i also have to unscrew the antenna for the cover to fit.

Being is I just purchased my cobalt about a month ago I haven't saved money yet for a cover but from first hand experience on my second car 97 Trans Am I purchased a covercraft weather guard (they are pricey about $400 custom cut). It came with a 5yr warranty. Its always on the car and out in all types of weather. Its about 1 1/2 years old and shows no sign of wear. It can be washed in a regular washing machine. Its pretty gentle on the paint (no scratches that I've seen).

The key to covers is the custom ones are the best. Anything universal may not fit well and if the cover blows around in the wind it could damage the paint no matter how soft. The custom fit ones fit fairly tight and do not allow the cover to blow around as much.

I keep my cobalt in the garage all winter. But i also keep it in a car capsule, which is dust free bug free and no one can bump into it or touch it while its inside. Its expensive but worth it. We keep almost all our cars in one of these during the winter.
