no daytime running lights
no daytime running lights
Forever i have always noticed so many cobalts running around town without any daytime running lights, just the parking lights.
Literally 90% of them on the road dont have daytime running lights and its a law in BC tol have them so its not like they were sold without them. Also lots of them are just stock ones driven by like old people, so its not like an 80 year old women is going to go and pull the fuse.
Anybody know why this is?

I believe the 05-06 have the parking lights as the daytime running lights. As long as there are lights on in the headlights, parking lights or headlights, they are considered daytime running lights.
actually, there is a sensor on top of your dash, dont know if you notice but when its bright out, your headlights turn off and on come your parking lights, and when it gets dark out the sensor will read and turn on your headlights. its common is most vehicles nowadays. You will notice it sometimes when your drive and you go through a dark shadow area, your headlights will suddenly come on.
in the 05-06 yes they ran the parking lights. But for the 07's the headlights are on all day, they are dimmer in the day, they go brighter once its dark out. Sucks... i prefered the parking lights, they dont turn on until its dark out
Two things:
The 05-06 DRL's are the turn signals, not parking lights... pretty big difference. Your turn signal steady burns, and then when you go to indicate it goes off, then on, etc. and when you're done indicating it goes back to steady on. Like Impalas, C5's (and C6's?), older Malibus I think, Ions, and a bunch of other cars.
As far as I know it is not illegal in Canada to disable your DRL's, the law only states that any vehicle intended for sale in Canada must be equipped with them. I'm not a big proponent of DRL's meaning I don't really buy the visibilty advantage of them, but surely you are at a disadvantage by disabling them now because all the other cars have them.
