just buy a rwd car.

Go learn how to rebuild an engine you fkin retard. I think he has explained the finanical reasoning well enough for the average person to understand. R&D costs money, so does unforseen problems with vendors.... When you are going where no one else has gone before and are trusting people on their word, sh*t happens.

When is your rwd dragster coming out?

If everything moves smoothly, we should have it ready for the track season which is the end of March/beginning of April.

Powerglide and 4000 stall? This not going to be a street friendly car in any way shape or form.

I don't think it's meant to be. He has a daily driver as well. Should definitely be a beast!

One of his main focuses of this project was being able to drive it everyday if he wanted to.

This car has become more than it ever was intended to be. Having said that you are both correct. I have always wanted to drive the project on the street and I do have a DD SS/SC. While the project has evolved into a beast the DD allows me to enjoy real DD'ing in the Cobalt and the DD is no slouch itself.

Now don't get me wrong, I am building the project to be driven on the street. I am including everything needed to pass a government (DOT) inspection. Is the powerglide/4000 stall going to be street friendly??? Depends on your description of 'street friendly'. I mean is a manual transmission with a clutch (strong enough to take the beating a powerglide can) going to be all that 'street friendly'? Not likely because that clutch is going to know two things, go or don't. With that kind of power driving a manual in the traffic is going to be a lot more tricky/risky than the powerglide. Using any other type of automatic also involves a highstall so is the increased expense worth one of those transmissions?

The purpose of driving on the street is to enjoy what has cost me way to high a price, in everyway possible. I won't even have a stereo in this car because the drive will be the entertainment, as well as the looks on peoples faces when they try to figure out where the hell that noise is coming from. If I could cash in on all of those looks, the project would be paid for and then some.

Going for the retro look. I am glad you like it. I think I will sand it down and give another coat or two of varnish.

Well there wouldn't be enough of me to hang and I would likely be pressed into a ball of metal so just did me a hole on shove me in.

I didn't and I am only accepting this because the cost out weighs the alternatives. Finishing the project out weighs some frills and preferences. I need this nightmare to end.

Well within a couple of weeks the project will be in the garage to be wired up. I choose to tackle this so that I can save some money, so it can be spent where it has to.

I am looking for help to do this job. I have a couple of interested people already but none are wiring experts. They have some experience, I have not much and if someone locally really knows this stuff, we can always use the help/guidance/leadership. It is a no brainer to know that if something is wired wrong it could have a nasty outcome.

I am using a painless system, both the harness/fuse block and control switch box. The car will we wired to make regular stuff work but with as little complexity as possible. The main goal is to not draw away the power from the fuel so that there is no issue with tuning.

If you know your stuff and want to help please let me know.

ps for those of you who didn't see this in the regional section, I will try to have a meet here at home for those who want to see *her* as she currently sits.
