Trifecta Tune (Review)

Holy **** this is the tune to get. I'm running the injen cai, a straight through 2.5" exhaust and a couple other goodies on an auto. First off the power comes alive at 3/4 throttle and in any gear and I mean any gear and this is at any speed up to the redline. I'm very familiar with my car and I can honestly vouche that the tune does make more power available to you beyond 3k rpm on 93 octane. At 80mph the car would fall on it's face. I could still make the 120mph limit but there was little no umph left. With Trifecta the car pulled hard on the 80-120 run and kept going. She maxed out at 130 and floated right at the 6.5k redline holding the power strong. The shift behavior has changed and the trans seems to be more telepathic in nature whether driving on the edge or running down the street. The car upshifts more quickly then stock and not as punishing as Shift+ stage 2 which allows the car to keep power to the ground and will push your back into the seat 1-2 gear shift much similar to the Shift+ stage 2. The down-shift is delayed and this makes a major difference when you're getting on it as the trans remains in gear ready to pounce. Mind you the car never failed to perform even at normal speeds with a very smooth downshift and instant torque gratifaction. The cam timing has changed slightly and i noticed this in the note change heard in my exhaust. All in all if you race your 2.2L like you have no goddamn sense you need this tune now. If you want great gas mileage you still need it cause the gas mileage is honestly beyond words. On our high speed runs I'd see 16.7mpg and on this last run i was at 21.3. I would say for an engine that stayed pushing 100 to 130 for sustained periods that's damn good.

This is a review and as such should be taken as opinion and not fact. In fact buy the tunr push it hard and make your own opinions. All this was performed on a closed course with proffessional drivers

P.S. Nitrous was not used to improve the cars performance at any point as honestly I ran out. However given the tunes performance as tested it would be absolutely beastly with the boost juice.

Edit:
After driving the over the weekend on the new tune I noticed a couple of things. First the damn gas guage actually works now. before it would hold at certain points giving the false impression of better gas mileage. Now you watch as the needle falls when you're packing on the miles and I do a lot of long distance highway miles all over the Chicagoland area. Second I'm almost positive the overdrive has been disabled, which in my opinion is a major plus as it has a habit of kicking in when you don't want it to. This is a must have product.

$250 for ECM Tune(5spd) or ECM/TCM Tune(Auto)
There is a Refundable Despoit for the tuner, so be aware when ordering, kiddies.
P.S. Shipping's not included. You choose when you get it.

How is the tune with the turbo i want to F/I this fall lol but yeah it would be nice to tune your own setup instead of waiting. But i have heard nothing but good things about this tune and hope to toss out the shift+ and buy the tranny tune and the engine tune soon.

I talked to Vince and he can tune for anything. you just need access to a dyno with wideband or you'll be shooting emails with him to road tune. as of right now he does have a 2.2 turbo tune he's working on with Mrsilent13 and it is an auto tune at that. the car was running but gave out, not sure but i believe it was valvetrain related. anyhow he's got something to work with based on that tune.

a personnal tune would be nice but it's not in the cards for the 2.2 and i doubt it will ever be. Vince and his people already contacted the big tuners and they all replied with a stern no to tuning the L61. they are not and will not tune our cars which is why Vince stepped up with the tune. if you don't believe me talk to Beth at Clear Image they've worked hand in hand with Vince on this tune.

just curious. why did the big tuners say no to tunning our cars? wouldn't it mean more bussiness and money for them?

im not wantin a tune for the n2o. just a tune that'll work with the n2o. i wanna get rid of the tc, PE delay better shifts. you know just stuff like that to make the car perform better. but if the timin gets advanced more than a degree or two it wont be as safe to spray cuz the risk of detonation.

silentoldsoul. yeah a basic tune. you must understand that under duress the ecm is designed to pull timing this is not effected by the trifecta tune as the tune allows the ecm freer reign over the control parameters.

yep, that's pretty damned good without the shift+ and it puts the power done with spinning the wheels which is very bad. got one decent vid outta those runs and it's on the bottle so check it out when you get a minute.

Release what?

Also, keep in mind Vince prepares the tune for each customer based on the customers modifications and input. The only reason it can be called a "canned tune" is because it is being up-loaded to a piece of hardware for customer convenience. Otherwise the pcm would need to be shipped and the tune up-loaded the old way.

Vince can tune for n20 like he did his camaro...he puts two table in your car and it only runs when you push a button or something. [call Vince and he can explain that part, i dont know the particulars]

what was the cost? Id like to get rid of PE, and a few other things, just mainly get a few more ponies and have it shift a little better. But i wouldnt want to comprimise fuel mileage at all
