I was about 17-18 psi tops, I had some pretty decent port work and full cooling done though. Boost + nitrous is a winner, every time. It has a superior intercooling effect, as the nitrous is something like -150 degrees when it hits the air stream. On our cars, with such poor compressor efficency, the gains from the added cooling make for a much better power gain from a given shot size, although that gain doesn't really increase as shot size climbs. Assume a '50' shot gives you 65whp gain, a '75' shot will gain about 85whp, not 100.

It's never too much boost, but at a certain point you start to have to trade off more timing to run the larger shots than the extra power is worth. Start with a smallish, 30hp shot or so, tune accordingly. If everything is manageable, bump it up one or two jet sizes at a time, re-tune for it, and stop when you are having trouble finding traction in 3rd or you stop gaining power.
