First time at the track last night. Interesting results. Thoughts?

I had 3 good runs...

1st- 14.5 @ 105.4 w/ 2.4 60ft
2nd- 14.4 @ 106.6 w/ 2.5 60ft
3rd- 14.3 @ 105.9 w/ 2.3 60ft

Mods: Stage 2 w/ 2.9", Intake, Full Exhaust.

For being my first time ever at the track, I'll take it. My biggest issue the whole night was my clutch with was slipping like a bitch the whole time. I'm convinced on that 3rd run I could have had 14-flat or better but I had to completely let off the gas TWICE that run so the clutch would grab right, I was so pissed. With a new clutch, I really think I can see high 13's. My whole goal was just to get a feel for it and just get the hell down the track without crashing or stalling haha. I just gotta work on my launches too, but they were getting better as the night went on, especially on the last one. I can't wait to go back, it was a ton of fun. I just wish I could've gotten more runs in though.

Thoughts?

No love?

Update: Ran again 2 weeks ago and I got a f'ing 14.000 @ 104. I'm so mad. One-ten-thousandth of a second!!!!! Grrrrrr. But my issue right now is definitely my clutch. I'm gonna get the GM Clutch Upgrade for our cars and run that. Hopefully 2010 will yield better results.

Yea that was pretty much my issue last night, the 1-2 shift sucked and I had to feather 2nd gear a little bit before I could gun it.

Not bad, the best I got with stg 2 was 13.7 @ 106 with a 2.4 60' and power shifting. If you get your shifting down you should take that no problem.

Yea I really think once I get my new clutch I'll see 13's. I raced a buddy of mine from a 40 roll a few times tonight and I was having the same 2nd-3rd gear issue with it. Oh well, gotta save up $600 real quick for a new one haha. Spec Stage 2+, here I come!

yo ross get the gm upgrade for half the cost and it can handle your power. that being said my first time i went to shitty ass atco i ran a 14 flat... your still slower than me. come to the sonic meet tomorrow night and ill give u a roll since ur clutch is FTL. mine is getting there also but i fixed the slipping problem... ill give you a secret. N2MB dual feature wot/2step box. every since i installed it. i bang gears. like NO SLIPING AT ALL. before that sometimes i would DEF slip going into second. now all she does is bang right in and chirp. seriously dood. how many miles do you have? im at 53k and i run every thursday and sundays. theres is no way your clutch is done yet. I REFUSE to believe it

You are probably still spinning a tad when you shift to second, which is causing the clutch to slip since you haven't actually gained traction yet.

Do you have a vid of any of the runs so that we can try to help you break down your run?

Also, post up your whole slip, like your 330', 660', 1000', if you have any of those.

With that high of a trap, and the "slipping clutch" you could easily break into the 13's.

Nah I don't have any videos of it. Here's the whole slip from the 14.3 run though...

R/T: .453
60': 2.3
330: 6.3
1/8: 9.5 @ 76.8
1000: 12.1
1/4: 14.3 @105.9

Definitely practice some, with a new clutch and everything that 106 mph trap speed will definitely get you your high 13's. I have a TC but i ran a 13.5 with those kind of traps.

my clutch dose that sometimes ive learnd how to prevent that kinda feather the clutch out and give it the right amount of throttle and it takes off ran 14.001 was my best time. and im stage 2 CAI and magnaflow cat back so if i can run that with just those mods you can run high 13's since ugot a full exhaust system

yup, no reason that 330' shouldn't be under 6sec, even with that 2.3 60', and that 1000 should definitely be in the 11's with that much mph.

You are probably just shifting into 2nd too soon. Shifting as soon as the rpm's hit your shift point, and you are probably still spinning slightly, which is causing the clutch to slip. If you hold out 1st a tad bit longer, let the rpms drop down when the tires catch and then they'll shoot back up, you can shift and your times will drop dramatically.

Too high in my opinion. Try launching off idle rpms, that's what I do. I have a bunch of 2.1 60 foot times using this method.

Nice times man! I ran the exact same time with stage 2 2.9 and intake but I only trapped @99. I wonder why yours was so much better. Thats a huge difference

Yea that's what I'm trying to figure out. My traps were high as hell for that time. One of my friends said it was a fluke or something the first time but It was right around 106 all night
