Sounds like you broke it in the same spot as me.

When you look at the shaft. You will notice that the diameter of the shafts swedges down a little bit near the cv boot, and that is where it breaks.

Anyways, were you on streets tires? I made 30 passes on street tires with no problems. It was when i put on slicks and launched at 3k rpm when i snapped mine. With street tires, you wanna just slip the clutch when you take off. i am guessing you must have dumped the clutch as soon as the light went green. The shock of the one warm wheel catching traction and dumping the clutch is what broke the axle.

Sorry to hear man. I still havent fixed my car yet because I got sent back out to work.

Thats sucks sunfirejoe and if I hadn't already sent my shafts off to another poor Canadain I would have let you use them till you could get the 400hp set which will solve the problem for 95% of the Cobalt racers.

The Intense ones are made by the DriveShaft Shop and are rated for 400hp. The driveshaft is currently trying to make some even stronger ones (at 600hp) but there are a few issues and hurdles they need to deal with but they are confident that they will soon.

You Calgary guys like to break stuff

Sorry to hear that Joe. Your car has been trough alot, but think of it this way, when ever you get it fixed you put better parts in it so eventually you car should be unbreakable

Tough luck, I was watching from the side when you broke. I am not surprised though, when you guys do your burn-out it looks extremely hard on the suspension. I'm the guy with the silver TBSS, been lurking here for a while... figured I'd chime in now. HI!

lol southgate in edmonton is a ******* joke, they said we thikn maybe your clutch was the problem to as of why your car is not working, we thinking maybe its burnt out, :than why did i not smell my clutch, why is it everytime ive burnt a clutch out i could still drive it, and also why is there CV grease all over on the passenger side of my car, and why does my CV boot look s shaped,"
from there they sorta said well we started it up and it had a loopy idle i laughed "did the guy rev it above 3000 and than cuz the rpms didnt die down right away he thought the rpm was loopy remember this is supercharged," fromt there i was passed to the service manager
Yah to his understanding the shop foreman did not realize it was supercharged, but he thinks its a bad clutch,

Really than tell me why it didnt burn out, or making a squealing noise,

well maybe you are right about the clutch not being bad, btu we also think if your cv joint let loose than maybe it was the clutches fault, from there i said, fix it, or there will be consequences lol

point of this

I HATE GM DEALERS IM TEMPTED TO ******* FIX IT MY SELF, ITS A 250 PART, SO TEHY CAN **** THEM SELVES, IM HEADED UP TONIGHT, AND IM STOPPING BY IM GONNA SCARE THE **** OUT OF THEM, MAN THEYVE NEVER HAD AN ANGRY FRENCH PORTUGUESEMAN AT THEIR SHOP, LOL, MAYBE ILL GET IT TOWED TO NICHOLSON

Don't even bother with westgate or for that matter any of the others.

Choose one of the race shops in Edmonton, either Competition or Ron Hodgson. Most of the other dealers either a) know nothing about supercharged cobalts or b) are of the "mods void your warranty" mentality.

Well at least we know the week point on the car is not the engine or transmission itself...cuz that would be really bad for all of us....looks like we could all do some preventative maintenence and get at least the intense driveshafts...pretty much a 1 time buy, better than the hassle of in and out of the shop with warranty axles or any other weak stuff, pretty much the do it once, do it right mentality that I have anyway. I mean it works at my job so it would only make sense.

Dude, i feel your PAIN!! Last saturday night, the same thing happened to me. Snapped cleanly in two. Makes you want to put on your own high performance shafts on but i dont want to shell out the bucks to do so when it can be covered under warranty. I think i am going to buy some ingalls to help that out. Sorry dude. It might be helpful to check out my post. It is under drivetrain "so about those driveshafts!"

Hey sunfire, that dealer sounds like a bunch of idiots. Tell them to feel the cv boot and you can feel the two pieces of rod where its snapped lmao. How can they think its the clutch?
