why not just convert your factory antenna.. IMO it looks better, fits great, and still gives the same reception.... i cut mine a little more than half and it works fine.

it seems like the stock screw is a tiny bit bigger than the opening on the shorty antenna

I hate to say it... but that's what you get for buying a cheapo product LOL.

on a lighter note... check out http://www.shortyantennas.com high quality billet aluminum antennas that screw right in... no problems. Many colors and patterns available.

Yeah... the shorty website is kinda wierd...

I actually ordered mine from an online retailer that I used to order all my custom truck stuff from.

Check http://www.stylinconcepts.com they've got a good selection of "Shorty" brand antennas.

And yes... it just screws right on... I had it on my 2.4 and swapped it to my SS/SC with no problems.

Same here. I didn't get it for the reception tho; with the XM and my CD collection, I never listen to commercial radio.

we tried cutting my friends mustangs antenna. it was actually pretty hard. got some wire cutters/plyers/tried bending it. it took a while. make sure your wire cutters are sharp. after your done, put a little screw cover or something on top.

first put the antenna in a vice (somewhere on the part that will be thrown away)

then use plyers to pull the ball off from the top (it's glued on from the factory)

then cut the antenna with something (i used a handsaw while it was in the vice)

then you may have to use a grinder or something to round off the edge that was cut and possibly make the tip a little narrower

then super glue the ball back onto the top of the antenna

(you may have to use some black spray paint on the top where you sanded)

Now you have a factory looking shorty antenna !!!
