cannnon ball run?

ok guys this may sound crazy but its been in the works for a few months now....

ive been sitting down with some buddies " one being a state hwy patrol " and we are starting to organize a cannonball run.. i cant give up the locations that it we will be going to bit i will say that ther is going to be about 2 to 5hrs worth of driving with mutiple check points and a 1000 dollar top prize.. if more people enter the 1-3 place prizes go up in value... its 35 dollars to enter and 5 of the 35 dollars go to a charity " not sure yet thinking something to do with cancer" its all in the works and im open for people feelings about this and anyway we can inprove but i have a buddy who belongs to teh scion tc forums and they have a group of people up to doing it and i want to post on the srt-4 forums and see if i can get some people to do it.. i would like 50 or more people doing this and we are going to film it and have a after part/ get-together.. i would really like this to turn into a yearly thing and make it alot like the gumball rally sort of thing.. high speeds and what not that goes along with it.. we will be video taping the whole thing with a few guys in different cars.

any input or if u want to get in on doing this just drop a comment

Make sure you have a legal waiver that you are not responsible for deaths and tickets or accidents

make sure you invite Burt Reynolds....

Sounds like a neat idea. It'll be neat if it all comes together for you.

yeah the whole quotes thing is kinda like a side thought.... its already coming together really nicely see i just need people to say " yeah im up for it " i need to get enough feed back so i can ajust the top prize dollar amount... i really would like to some how get a rough est. of how many people would be down to do it.. i would like to get a hole mix of cars from high end muscle cars down to imports.. even if u dont win i think it would be a great time to go out and show off ur car and have fun with a huge group of people..

i'd be up for it - only w/ a waiver though. and guarantee that accidents/tickets don't go on my driving record (i'm not paying insurance premium hike, or risking going uninsurable) and that expenses resulting from such are taken care of by the sponsors/organizers.

get more legal deets and i'm sure u'll get more interest.

They do this every month in Baltimore! Its either around the beltway a couple times or they run from the park and ride on 95 north at the Capital beltway to the Maryland House or Chesapeak house on 95 (BTW they are both HUGE rest stops) Also they run almost weekly up 295 from DC to Baltimore.

Its a big cash buy in and real hush hush! I did it once but they were too crazy for me so I quit mid run. Good thing too one of the guys hit a deer and took a couple others with him.

I thought the waiver was only so the people holding the event weren't held responsible. Or am I wrong?

Sounds like a lot of fun. I lived in Gurnee, Illinois a few years back, sometimes I wish I still did. Milwaulkee was some good times, same goes for Chicago. Lots of open road out there in that part of the country.
