I manage a paint and body shop and send my own personal cars through the car wash on a weekly basis. Your car will not melt, your paint will not peel, and your motor won't blow up by doing this. The only time you should not take a car through the car wash is if it is black or a dark blue. Then the small swirls show up, otherwise you are fine.
I get free car washes for life at my dealer so I am there all the time. I rather drive a clean car and there is no way in hell I am washing it by hand in this cold.
The carwash uses those big roller brushes and I have not seen any damage on my paint……….besides, it is under warranty

Ok here's my dumb car wash question of the day. I've never driven a car through a carwash before were the filter of the car hangs low like it does on the SS. I have my airbox modded so the filter is somewhat exposed. I was thinking of going through the wash that has the high pressure undercarriage sprayer thingy at the end of the winter to get all the salt and junk off the undercarriage. Is this a good idea with the airbox mod? I have the plastic fender shield still in place but I have found dirt and grime get up there still so I'm sure water does too. So should I be worried about hydrolocking the car due to the high pressure spray?
I know that's probably a dumb question but I have always hand washed my car before this so I 've never been concerned about this before.

I bring my car through a spinning brush carwash..... especially in the winter. 3$ to keep the salt off my car. Your car is going to get little scratches no matter what. the touchless washes do NOT clean your car...... the grime is still on your car because it isnt cleaned off.... i hate touchless car washes.... they suck

Yeah, I agree w/ the whole touchless car wash thing. They don't seem to clean very well when your car is dirty. But at least it'll turn out better than it is now...right?
I went to school for paint and auto body, and I painted my own car, so I know how easily paint scratches, so I'm a stickler about even touching newish paint. I usually just spray the dirt off without actually using a brush on it, but if it needs it, I use a microfiber cloth to do it.
I refuse to go through automatic car washes anymore, I got a massive dent in the roof of one of my old Eclipses from one.

theres a touchless carwash by me in mass and it is great! you guys must not have good touchless technology in PA or illinois. the touchless by me, gets pretty much everything off my ss when i go through. its a privately owned, its not like a scrub a dude or franchise. its just a single place. it pre-rinses, washes with a lot of soap 3 times, rinses 2 more times, wax, then clear coat protectant. some more polish. a rinse and then a spot free rinse and a final like 5 minute high power dry. it takes about 15 minutes to 20 minutes to finish. it only costs $12! i go twice a week just because im a neat freak and obcess about a clean car.
