Car dying when I slam on brakes...

Ok, so I was extremely low on gas...

I was on the way to the gas station from my house, goin about 30ish, green light goes to yellow..then to red like...immediately after..

So I slam on the brakes...the car dies..im thinkin damn..im out of gas and when braking the gas moved and it killed the car.

It starts back up, i get some gas...its fine.

I went to a hockey game last night, came home...same thing..same light...but this time i had 1/2 a tank...

Slam on brakes...car dies.

so im thinkin theres somethin wrong with my car to where each time i hit the brakes..it kills the car.

so i goto a walmart parking lot...go about 50...then slam on the brakes....car stays running..doesnt drop in RPMs or anything.

Anybody got any ideas?

Oh get the hell out of here you stupid troll.

Go back to your import family, like Toyota. Wait, they recalled more cars last year than they sold. Funny.

GTFO.

Recalled more but are still poised to knock GM out of first worldwide. Wait, that makes who better?

my guess would be water in the fuel tank. but that's a guess. also, there is a chance that either the tranny isn't letting go, or the clutch isn't. i'd take it in to the dealer.

its an auto. and i run 93.

i think it might be the fuel pump as well. i'll make an appointment asap...but i know they are going to say: "It works fine"..or "This isnt covered by the warranty because of your exhaust".

Pfft.

CHEVY FTW!!!!!

TCarter-
i dont know, i would bring it to the dealer and if they say any BS about the exhaust, tell them to shut up, it has nothing to do with the problem. if you do run your car on empty, it can cause your fuel pump to overheat, the fuel is what keeps the pump cool....(this can happen to ANY car, not just chevy!)

do you have a big stereo?? maybe its causing a power drain and making it stall, the car needs power to run, everything is computerized....this has happened on my 87 supra before, alternator went and batt died, then the whole car died.....
do you have ABS? if you do, i think this might have happened...
these are just guesses, you will need to bring it in and get it checked out.

I dont have a big system, I have the stock system...BUT I was thinking. I have neons underneath the car, and they broke (the wiring was ripped out by a 4x4).

The wires were hanging underneath. Im thinking that MAYBE the wire hit something metal on the road...which caused a short. because my radio died as well (which is where the neons were hooked up too).

But, im gonna hold off, see if it does it again. if it does, im gonna unhook everything i got goin to that fuse.

but, we'll see.

Heres some thing no won has said. Your break booster runs off the vacume of the motor may be its making the motor stall because the booster is bad.

Ok guys, I got my car back from the dealership. they said that in short...its my throttle body thats messed up.

in short, the computer doesnt see me releasing the throttle, and it sees me applying the brakes at the same time. so the computer shuts the car off to protect itself.

...they are going to order a new throttle body, and something else (i forgot what), so the car will be in the shop tuesdai.... and i have a meet to goto on sunday..oh yay. hopefuly it doesnt die on me.
