C/D Tire Test On Pirelli

So i just picked up an issure of C/D to read the Vette Vs. Viper, good article by the way, and as i flipped through the pages noticed that there was a tire test in it. They tested 11 tires in

dry and wet conditions. Pretty much the pirellis aren't that great which is what we all knew, they scored 7th . The number one was goodyear eagle F1 Gs-D3 which are the

ones ive been wanting to get. The pirellis did really pretty poor on the skidpad and the same in any wet weather. the issue also has the MX-5 Vs. Solstice. Good read!!!

I heard about this as well..... Eagle F1 GS-D3s are NICE NICE tires..

Figured I would throw this in here... in the april 05 issue of Super Street (I know.. total ricer mag.. see screen name for explanation) they did a tire comparo...

1) Mich Pilot Sport PS2
2) Falken Azenis Sport RT-215 (would imagine 615 now trumps this)
3) Eagle F1 GS-D3s
4) Dunlop Sport Maxx
5) BFG g-Force T/A KD

11) Pirelli P Zero Rosso

.............

Where the hell have ya'll been?!

Trust Tirerack. Their ratings and consumer reviews are spot-on. You'll see the GS-D3 is top in its class for summer performance.

What more needs to be said?

Oh, just to add: Once I over-paid for a set of Michelins on my Monte Carlo. I burned through those in 20k miles and wasn't very happy at all. I've since run 2 sets of Kuhmo KH-11s on the same car and was much more satisfied with the performance vs price comparison. The tread pattern and compound helped a great deal for traction both off the line and in an AutoX course. Hydroplaning wasn't a problem and cornering stability/road noise were excellent for performance tires. 235/50-17 are the dimensions of the Kuhmos I've run.

Yeah, tell me about it. Handling that thing was fun to say the least.

Comparitively, driving the Cobalt is like driving a roller-skate.

I had these on my Cavy, and will probably be putting them on the cobalt, but BFGoodrich Traction T/A is an excellent tire as well!

Thanks, the Oct issue has a comparrison of the MX-5 vs. Solstice also, but I couldn't find the tire article. I was begining to think all these years being single was causing me to go blind.
