whats a good exhaust system, for the 2.4s that dont sound like shhhh, but have power gains?

company i work for is gona need a 2.4 for testing for exhaust and a header


not to many companies have done much testing on the 2.4's , but from what can tell the 2.0s/c systems and the 2.4 is the same cat back

I think it's some kind of muffler. My friend at work had one on his Neon SRT-4. It made sort of a purring sound.

 

why is called a cat? is it because it purrrrrs?

 

its a term for part of the exhaust. Cat back, means everything from the catalytic converter on back. Pretty much an exhaust is Header, downpipe, cat, then the rest of the piping and muffler are the cat back.

It is for emissions. It filters out some of the stuff that is bad for the enviroment from the exhaust.

So how does that make the car go faster?!?! I'm all for clean air, but umm...it's not my problem to solve.

 

Every car comes with a CAT. The only state that you are able to have no CAT on your car leagly is florida. In every other state if you get caught with no cat on your car it is expensive. In NJ i beleve the fine is $5000-$20,000. Cops don't check if you have a cat on your car tho. If you have no CAT on your car you will NOT pass inseption.

 

A CAT makes the car go slower b/c it hurts the flow of the exhaust. If you want you can buy a high flow cat, but you will make the most power with no CAT.

Can you just take the CAT off and say you bought the car in Florida? Or do you need proof?

My friend's SRT-4 sounds more like a chainsaw.

 

You have to LIVE in florida.
You can also do it if your car is registerd in florida which means that you would have florids licence plates on your car.

 

It depends on the muffler that you have on your car.

your car makes power with air and gas, after the air and gas has been used it goes out the exhaust pipe.. the faster the air leaves the engine and out into the world.. the more hp itll make.. the catyletic convertor"cat" limits that flow of air out your engine and filters harmful particles... thus making the exhuast air leave the engine slower with a high flow cat the air isnt as filter and the the air going through it goes much faster...

sort of like a doorway.. the bigger the doorway the more people that can fit through it at a time
