I just got popped for a little sarcastic humor - not even something that could be an honest troll IMHO. This on the same post where dudes were abusing the PG-13 clause and spitting vitriol.
If this is going to be marks on a guy's "permanent record", how about a few common-sense checks on top of this rule so that you actually get productive results from the change?
Otherwise there's just going to be a lot (more) people just leaving this board. Especially a lot of the relative newcomers (like me) who tend not to get any respect! Well, they won't exactly disappear - they'll just be the ones who "haven't posted" in a while, haven't supported the vendors in a while - the usual stuff that kills a good board.....

It is hard to determine "sarcasm" on the internet. And when you start talking trash about other people's countries, especially my country, people take offense. So maybe you need to review "these" since you are new..........

First off - thank you for taking the time and going back to the post. Its always good to see some review. I'd ask that you go through the thread to see what I've said prior and also note my location. I was doing nothing but spreading love. If you review the whole thread, there was more abuse of the rules around my posts.
And, it seemed rather apparent: the joking around I was doing was about MY OWN COUNTRY. I'm not Canadian. That alone is a pretty big indicator that I wasn't attempting to insult anybody!
In deference to your recommendation, I have, in fact read the posting rules, I always abide by them. I also re-read them after the hit. And considering that I wasn't profane, I didn't say a single thing against another member, and none of what I said turned to an argument or flame war. I'm not on the wrong side of the rules. And I'm new, but I've been on forums since they were on Unix servers, and the terms "troll" and "flame" were busy being crafted.
Simply put - the message would have been better delivered by a warning on the thread, not by bashing me and capriciously enforcing the rules based on "newness".
But I'm cool with it, and I'll keep and cherish my point!
