i agree witht he guys who say its a rush, and its fun. and thats why i own a quick car.
But as a Site i say they should close the Section. to me it shows that CobaltSS.net condones Street racing.
if you wanna post a Street race story, post it in the Dungeon, in a private area where only premi's can see it. that was people surfing the web cant come across the stories.

All the site has to do is post a disclaimer saying they don't codone and/or encourage street racing.

I do not think you should do something as Draconian as removing the war stories section.
Is street racing wrong...yes
Is doing a short pull off of the light...yes...but it feels oh so right!
Come on stop censoring this site or I will go somewhere else! I am a premium member after all!

For the reasons you stated I don't think the forum should be here. We don't allow pictures of people naked or people posting links about stealing music/movies/videos, why should bragging /reporting about something that is illegal in most countries and has a higher chance of getting people killed (than the track) be allowed? Thats one of my opinions on it. I don't know how much work it would require but it might be possible to enforce a post count or time requirement to post there to keep trolls out.

i voted to keep it. Street racing is illegal yes, but it happens. and will always happen. It is not our job to enforce its punishment and weather or not you choose to participate in it isnt up to us. The concequences of doing it are severe. You must understand the risk ur taking and that your people urself and other peoples lifes in danger.
Now that thats out of the way, i dont see a reason why we cant discuss it. Its like if a thread existed that said "what do u do when ur high?" Now its not a for sale thread selling pot or bongs, but a discussion thread doing something illegal. Question is would u delete a thread discussing being High? If yes, remove the warstories section. If no, then leave it.

Mod team has been talking about the possibility of removing the war stories section on the site. This section has been around since I've been here and wouldn't doubt it's been here since the beginning. Over the years it has been the a big reason for trolls to come to our site and defend their respective vehicles. Street racing is not only unsafe but illegal. I can already see the outcome of the poll but I hope I'm proven wrong here. What do you members think? Should we get rid of the War Stories section and not allow any further posting of street races? Keep this thread civil and give your opinion. The poll will be open for 5 days. Thanks.
It's the friggin >>>>INTERNET!!!...
You're just pissin in the wind if you think you're gonna *clean up* things by banning a subject.
Just leave it where it is for all the *trolls* and crazies like me to hang out and do *whatever*. The thread isn't sanctioning anything..just realizing this ***** happens*..always has... always will. So give us kids a *sand box* to shoot the **** and play. As another poster said...if ya don't like what people are doing and reporting there...stay away from the thread.
Yes..street racing is dangerous and dumb. Won't stop me from doing it though. Honesty is BRUTAL, ain't it.

keep it. anybody with a car worth driving has driven that car to a limit and it has not always been on a track or under the safest of conditions. be real and leave well enough alone.
i say start a section for grand daddies like myself so we can all bitch about how the kids are way to far ahead of themselves these days.

No? Sure street racing is illegal yada yada save it for someone who cares, fact of the matter is 99% of us are mature enough to know when is an alright time to do it or not do it. Everyone has or does do it if you say you haven't you're full of it. Makes things interesting to read/see some runs imo.

We aren't naive enough to think this is going to stop everyone from street racing, but this is about what "type" of site this is. Sure a disclaimer is fine and all, but it's bullshit unless you mean it. "The site does not condone Street Racing..." means nothing if you still give people an area for them to brag/post about it. That would be kind of like saying "We don't support child pornography" but having a forum dedicated to it.
The "Street Racing" forum puts this site on the level of your average punk kid 4-banger ricer than one with technical merit and information. I'm not saying this place is perfect, or a that all the posts are/should be a wealth of information, but this section does nothing but cast a negative light on Cobalt drivers and the members of the forum.
What does the section really add to the forum? Nothing but lies, BS, fabrications, trolls, and arguments. You want to see how good your car is run it down the track, or put it on the dyno and come back with some proof about it.
For those that want to bring up "The Lounge" argument are being a little silly, threads in the lounge generally encourage positive member interaction, and let us share our interests beyond the Cobalt, it makes everyone seem more interesting.
Everyone is entitled to vote how they want, and I can respect that, but I think this is for the betterment of the forum if this section was gone...

I'm sure the thousands of people involved in accidents or fatalities as a result of street racing thought they were mature enough to know when it was the right time.

I say leave the War Stories Section. I personally don't post in the section or discuss any street racing that I may/may not do. Why? Because it is my choice. I do enjoy reading some of the threads.
If CSS.net is concerned about the image portrayed then, as mentioned earlier, post a disclaimer. The section does not seem to affect any supporting vendors from associating with the site.
Continue to allow the freedom of speech and stay away from the censorship quagmire. This is one of the reasons why my family and I devoted 20 years of our lives to the military. There is nothing offensive in this section. Legal or not; I don't see this section casting any negativity towards me or other members.

You realize how many high traffic car enthusiast sites include a street happenings sub forum, right?
Like I said 99% of people are smart enough to know when and where, i.e. non-busy roads in good condition...The other 1% I'll tap off as natural selection and were probably retarded to begin with. Unfortunately innocent people do get harmed from that 1% of morons who have 0 common sense.

We don't catch them all, and sometimes we get a little help from a reported post, but we do close/remove them when we see them.

EDIT: I went through 3/4 of the threads on the first page and theres the "proof" behind the second stuff in red.

Do you think the forum will be *better* if it ignores *the elephant in the room*?
If the *powers that be* on this forum want to play down this *taboo topic*, I would suggest that the title of the thread be changed from *War Stories* to something more *tame* to placate those who find the topic controversial. I'm not of that opinion , but I would support it. Perhaps something like *Street Stories*, which takes away the *glorification* factor that is currently in the title.

And to the guy who stated to close the lounge. gtfo thats what makes this website great and keeps the traffic here. U can spend ur time on this site reading current events, watching new viral videos, getting laughs at stupid hilarious pictures and poking fun at people in the lounge, and when u wanna post something technical and have a serious conversation go to a different section and ask a serious question. Yea there will be some BS in there and retards but to me thats what makes this forum so entertaining and kinda fun to be on. U can learn alot and have alot of fun at the same time. its the people whos foots are so far up there ass that cant enjoy this forum. There are still SOME smart knowlegable people here, and if u ask s serious question u will get an answer. The lounge keeps people here and keeps them refreshing the page. Traffic is a must on these sites or else people go elsewhere. Ever try selling something on here? from a car part to a TV or video game? generally it will sell here b4 it goes on ebay or craigslist
