I'm glad I checked.....

So a couple of weeks ago I saw a deal on eBay for a set of Eibach Sportlines that I almost couldn't refuse. He had bought them for his car but sold the car before he ever had the chance to put them on. Well, for one reason or another I either forgot about the listing or never got around to actually ordering them, but they were sold the next time I checked. Well today the though of lowering my car came across my mind again and on the way out to the grocery store I thought "let me just double check that everything will clear the speed bumps in my apartment complex." Pulled up to one and stopped just short, the lip would clear no problem. Then I straddled the speed bump between to front and rear tires and saw this....

Man that GMPP exhaust hangs low!! A bad time would have been had for sure. And this was with just one passenger in the car. Looks like I'll have to wait until May when I move out to do this lol

Yeah no kidding. I've never had it scrape before luckily. Never knew it was THAT close though. West Virginia is unkind to low cars

Mass is unkind also. Now you know to go extra slow of those bumps!

Have a shop weld a higher hanger on it. That two bolt dp/catback flange warps from sagging over time anyway

That is not a bad idea at all. I will definitely look into that. Thanks!

It may be. It was low like that when I bought it a year and a half ago. I need to jack it up this weekend when I visit my parents to see if there's something going on down there

Im on sportlines and my gmpp resonator clears most speed bumps better than that. Make sure all your hangers are in place, bolts tight etc.

exhaust is hanging pretty low.... never liked exhausts with a muffler/res in the middle, just asking to get smacked.

only thing that touched on my car before i raised it was the massive 3 bolt exhaust flange. lol

Yeah that's way too low, my exhaust is the lowest part, well that or the XXX sway bar, but that's just ridiculous, try ordering some new hangars as well as looking what you can do to keep it held up.

Thanks for the input guys. It's actually going into the shop next week to have the GMPP stage clutch installed, so I'll ask them to look at this while they're at it

It would be nice if there were no speed bumps then lowered cars could roam free without any problems

I know man. The ones in my apartment complex are excessive. In West Virginia you have a choice. Either the entrance is so steep you scrape every time you come or go. Or, you have speed bumps which you scrape on every time you come and go

Well, I dropped off the Cobalt at my mechanic today for a bunch of preventative maintenance as well as getting him to get out that exhaust. There is no excuse for stock ride height.

In the meantime, my little brother has kindly agreed to share his car while mine is getting fixed.

I suppose I can live with this until the Cobalt is ready
