The GR2's are probably about the equivalent to the FE3's...I'd go with SS/TC (FE5) struts and shocks or if you can afford it, Koni yellows.

I had Sportlines on my car for almost 2 years and they were fine with the FE1 struts/shocks...but I picked up a part-time job delivering pizza and that destroyed them...the daily driving to and from my day job was fine though. I upgraded to FE5 and went with Pedders springs this time around.

thanks for the info 007cobaltls, i dont really like the koni yellow cause of the rear shocks you have to unmount them every time you whant to adjust them, thats really bullcrap. So i decided ill go with the sportlines springs with the ACDELCO (FE5) shock and struts, next thing will be the eibach front and rear swaybars, and DC sport front strut tower bar. i also like to know what companie makes the rear strut tower brace ? cause DCsport only does the front :s

There are no rear strut tower braces because the rear has no struts...you only have the front strut tower bar, front and rear sway bars, and that's it.

I have a stock front sway right now. I have an OTTP "Street" bar in the rear (absolutely love it).

I have an ARK front strut tower bar. Really the STB doesn't do anything on these cars, but I have it on there anyway. If nothing else, it adds to the appearance.

I will be getting the FE5 front sway bar and clamps and what not that I need for it. Not sure when I'll get around to installing it all though. The front sway is time consuming and difficult from what I've heard/read, never seen it though.

hehehe, thats right the rear has no struts, i feel dum a little , and your probably right about the front STB. but it looks so good under the hood !!! Also i just got myself some new tire some BFG g-force and daimmm they stick to the road !! im keeping them on 205/55R16 cause with the lowered suspension it would way to harsh with 225/45R17 or 40/18, i bought the car with ****ing hankook optimo h725 those were realllly cheap tires !!! they were spinnig every time i take off... Yeah, I like my scheme...I have my silver LS sedan with a black and red theme. Tinted windows, black Chevy badge on the front, gen 4 projectors in black, will have tinted tails this summer. Then I've got certain parts that are red....my front STB, my rear sway, my springs, and I'll be doing my calipers this summer in red. Need to paint my drums black as well.

So it does add to the visual appeal under the hood.

And the Hankook's are better than the shitty Continental 15's that came on my LS. I've got Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS (all seasons) in 205/60 15 that are pretty nice...I'd like to get some 16's or 17's with some dedicated summer tires since I have winter tires, but that won't happen for a while.

hummm, do you have any winter in coon rapids ?? anyway that a really nice project you got there, and the drums painted black is a really good idea atlease you wont see them, i think ill do the same and those re960as looks pretty good. For me I was thinking to debadge the car, whant it as slick as possible, my cobalt is black with tinted windows, i also whant to paint my rims black also, try to keep it sleeper, i use to have a yellow sunfire and the cop were always arrassing me, i got over 3000$ in ticket in 3 years and lost my licence to so i got my lesson with flashing cars. i was looking at the RKsport body kit, it looks pretty good, probably when im done with the suspension component ill be buying that kit and after that the fun will begin (engine mods) but one thing at a time !!

Blue IRL, de-winged, de-badged in the rear, blacked out windows and darkened windshield, black and chrome Saturn badges hood and front fenders, blacked out tails and corners with black "eyeliner" on the headlights exposing only the chrome bits, black rims with chrome lips - the car is blue and the only thing on my car that's not chrome over black is the license plates.

You have an 08 Sport and you want to put the SC springs on? Yes, it will slightly drop it, but it's almost not noticeable...maybe 1/4 to 1/2 an inch front and rear. I'm not 100% sure on the amount it will drop, but I know it definitely isn't much. If you had an LS/LT with the FE1, you would notice it a bit more.

Is that the info you're looking for?

TC shock INFO found

Looks like the fronts are, as expected, DEPLHI specially valved struts.

UPDATE. READ HERE THAT FRONTS ARE MADE BY KYB ?
The REARS are SACHS.

2008 Chevy Cobalt SS Test Drive: 260-hp Barnstormer Is GM's Best Sport Compact Ever - Popular Mechanics

This cheeky new Chevy has a chassis tuned on the famous Nurburgring’s Nordschleife (northern loop), resulting in the adoption of a new front suspension knuckle, monotube Sachs rear shocks, specially valved Delphi struts, 30-percent stiffer springs and beefed-up stabilizer bars.

The Cobalt chassis team discovered that the suspension worked better on the Nordschleife with somewhat less rebound control than initially estimated, but with firmer spring and stabilizer bar rates

Wrong.

As a matter of fact read up. 2 of the sports springs are the same as the SC's (think its the rears) the fronts are different. Its not worth using SC springs on an SS/NA/SPORT.

Well thanks for clarifying, but as I said I wasn't 100% sure...HOWEVER since you just admitted 2 springs ARE NOT the same (and 2 are), then I'm not 100% WRONG either...if two springs are different, then there is a slight, whether or not noticeable, difference.

I was probably thinking of the FE1 to FE5 springs for drop then...that's probably what, half an inch? Oh well, this is the interwebs...people are wrong.

It's not like I told him to go do it because it would give him an ultra top performing suspension, did I?

The fronts are similar and seem to sit similar. Though im thinking the spring rates themselves are probably a bit softer. So yes for an LS or base lt they provide a small drop. but on an ss/na/sport I cant imagine being able to tell you swapped the springs.

All right, cool, thanks for that clarification, like I said. I don't visit the boards much anymore and don't remember a lot or know everything so good to know.

I would just sell them then. No point in installing them because you would need an alignment then and that alone is going to cost enough to make it not worthwhile. Just try to get at least your money back (shouldn't be real hard hopefully).

What benefits would I get from putting ss/sc suspension on my fe3 car? It would only be the struts, shocks and springs

SS/TC suspension is an upgrade to an SS/SC, but they are both called FE5. you need to make sure you get 08-10 FE5
