Me vs Trans Am
So last night me and strazdice (Mike) were comin back into town from getting some headlights for my car when we saw this trans am sittin in the parking lot. We were both thinkin, hay we should race that dude. I hoped in my car and after breaking the ice i got the guy to race me. He said that the car had an ls1 with heads cam long tube headers exhaust and an intake. to be honest i thought i was gonna have my ass handed to me. We raced 3 times all from a dig. everytime i couldnt hook for **** with my terrible tires so he would have about a car on me until 3rd gear and i would pull on him by about 150 i had 2-3 cars on him. afterwards he goes "that things pretty nasty" haha. Gotta love these little cars. My mods are airbox mod, hot and cold side treadstone charge pipe, treadstone tr8 intercooler, home made 3 inch catless dp and 3 inch straight pipe side exhaust. STOCK BOOST!!! Gonna try getting the videos up later.

LS1+cam+heads and you pulled w/o a tune...something doesn't seem right
Hell even if you were tuned I'm sure it would be damn hard to pull on one

Hell of a lot faster than a stock lnf. On top of that the ls1 may have been modded.

never saw under his hood so i cant confirm if it really was an ls1. Im just goin off what he told me. The only chick who recorded the races said she'll e-mail em to me so as soon as she does ill post em.

Easy solution to the LT1 or LS1 question. Were the headlights set in or flush with the body?

if its 98-02, its a ls1. ls1s are pretty wicked. my brother has a ws6 LS1 with only an SLP intake and GMMG exhaust, no LTH or tune.. and he pulls on me on straight aways. but cant keep up with handleing. i can take a turn at 120 that we wont even attempt.. but FWD is completely different from RWD lol

t/a needed a driver mod BADLY. there is no way in hell you could stay with a ls1 with heads, cam, i/h/e. thats a 12 second car right there. im pretty sure it was a t/a with intake and catback at BEST or the driver had no clue wat he was doing. by third gear he should of had 5-9 if not a few bus's on you

12's with a shitty driver. Heads, Cam, and full bolt on's is gonna be an 11second car all day.
I see it being a stock LS1 or a stock Lt1. I think a tuned SS/TC is gonna be an interesting race with just a longtubes/lid/tune LS1.

I have put down a high 11 sec pass with the mods I have. The 12.70 was put down on the stock clutch that was slipping very badly. All I have is a cam,31/2" exhaust and longtube headers. The heads and intake are stock. And I can garrantee I have out ran some very modded lnf's. Driver mod. You can have a 10 sec car and get beat by a 12 sec car because of the driver mod. I have seen many people lose thousands of dollars because they think alot of hp wins races. Besides. Most people build there cars or buy there cars with no knowledge of how to drive the new found power.

there are 10 second heads/cam LS1 GTOs, and the GTO has IRS and a 300-400lb disadvantage to the transam....
Even a mild cam would still be around 400-450whp in a 34XXlb car. And you're stock boost would be 24Xwhp. Even being 400lbs lighter, he would DESTROY you.
The car you describe would be beating up on almost all the stock turbo cobalts on this board, regardless of tune.

12.8 was the best a STOCK down to the paper filter and tires a ls1 ever ran. Ive seen heads, cam m6 on drag radials run 11.2 at the track with my own two eyes, then drive home. Good STORY op lol im not calling you a liar but if the guy said he had heads and cam and im guessing you know at least a little about cars would'nt you have been able to tell if he was lieing when he started up his car?
