best tire size for stock ss sc wheel

so we all know that the wheel is 7 inches wide. so what size would be the best?

1. 225/40/18 tire rack says for a 7.5-9

2. 225/45/18 tire rack says 7-8.5

so number 1 or number 2 and y??

I say #2, just because I have 40 series tires on my 18s and I'm just waiting for a pothole... waiting.

I wouldn't get 225/45/18's. Some people have rubbing issues with them and they make 18" wheels look like 17's. They also make the car look like a monster truck unless you are lowered a lot. I f you are lowered a lot, they will rub! lol. 225/40/18's FTW!

I have 225/40/18 on my sc wheels. Only thing I don't like is I'm on the eibach pro kit springs so I don't have as much drop so I have a little extra wheel gap. It's not bad depending on the angle. Looks the worst from driver rear looking on angle to passenger front. I'm on my iPod but I'll try and get some pics up in next couple days or I can text pics if you want to see them. I have a couple pics in my garage. No close ups though.

well i have 235/40/18's right now and on coilovers. i have the coilovers so tgat the fender is flush with the top of the tire. and they dont rub.

i am wanting to get a smaller size then those because i can feel the sidewall shifting/flexing really bad. and i am sure it is because they are all seasons. so i am sending them back and getting summer tires( continental dw) in one if the two sizes listed.

well like i said i had the dws allseason tires. i think that for an all season tire that 235 is too wide. a lot of people use 235 summer tires with no problem. but i am switching to 225 just so i know for sure that i wont have flex and also going to the dw's which are a max performance summer tire.

I dont mean to thread jack but I was jw. Is it ricey/retarded to stagger 225s in front and 235s in the rear. I'll be running some mean summer tires.

its stupid to do that. you are not gaining anything and really wont be able to tell from a looks point of few, not to mention, you just killed your chance of rotating the tires
