ZZP Downpipe + catback exhaust

Hello,

I'm looking for some input on a new exhaust system that I am looking into purchasing from ZZP. I am curious if there is any drone with the 3 inch catback with the cobalt ss/tc. I am hoping to achieve a sound that is not raspy but has some roar behind it, but I don't want it to be too overwhelming that I can't hear inside the car.

I know that I am not going to go with the muffler delete option on the catback because that will make the exhaust louder. Also I am curious how the resonator option for the catback exhaust affects raspiness.

tl;dr -

2008 cobalt ss/tc

I want an exhaust that is not too raspy.

2.5" vs 3" exhaust system
Should I get the resonator option on the catback exhaust?

Thanks for your time!

We have more complaints of wanting the exhaust just a littler louder than we do quieter. there is no rasp with either system if you have a cat.

anyone who gets our system w/o a resonator or with muffler delete comes back in time and wants it quieter.

On the rare occasion that someone wants our normal system even quieter we can work with them to swap out our resonator for a quieter unit since we fab parts in house.

I had the cat back with no resonater and muffler it was too much for me noise wise. It was mated to a catless dp too. I went back to stock cat back to each his own though

Exhaust volume is all the owners preference. LSJs being louder than LNFs, my bud has the 3" system on his 2005 and it has stock cat and no resonator, sounds perfect. We can't believe anyone would want the resonator, however he does have the stock DP as mentioned.

This is going to sound dumb as hell to most people... So I bought a ZZP 2.5 mid length header/dp combo... Thinking maybe I should have went 3"... So now I'm debating a 3" catback in case I do want to eventually get the 3in dp. Anyone ever heard of someone doing this? 2.5" DP to 3" cat back?

you could have it made like that but it would probably just make sense to buy the 2.5 catback

Just do a catless downpipe witha muffler delete, still quiet at idle and sometimes around town, no rasp and gets loud when you go into boost.

Hey zoomer, I've been doing some looking, but I can't find anywhere where anyone used the zzp catback in conjunction with the vibrant header/catless dp combo. I'm considering your catback just not for sure it would bolt up to to my downpipe. I'm also not sure if I should go 2.5" or 3", hp goal of 270ish.

Back when I had my lsj I think I read a 3in was only if u went tvs. U can do a 3in but doubt it will be necessary for 270.

Guess I just need to know if the 2.5 bolts to the vibrant dp, if so I'm all in.

Run a 3" downpipe to a 2.5" catback. It will be more than enough to meet your goal.

I make 300whp, and have that very setup.

but since u already have a vibrant header/dp, just get a ZZP 2.5" catback. It will bolt to your downpipe fine.

Does anyone have a video clip of what the ZZP 400 cell cat + catback exhaust with resonator and muffler sound like on an LNF>? I cant have a loud car but the last time I checked under the car, the exhaust sytem is looking alittle randy.

The stock downpipe comes out to 2.5" correct? So to use the ZZP catback you need to replace the dp? I want to run my stock dp with a catback and the ZZP one, just muffler no res, looks good. Anyone done this? It's this or the TurboXS FL which won't be in stock for a while.

ZZP only offers the flange at 3" and I don't want to buy it to find out it doesn't fit so I'm trying to get the bases covered now.

Our cat back will fit the stock exhaust just fine. Always feel free to e-mail customerservice@zzperformance.com to ask us directly, and we can give you an answer.

Today's install

#1-ZZP 3" Shorty header (installed 2 weeks ago)
#2-ZZP 3" downpipe with 400 cell spun cat
#3-ZZP 3" Catback with resonator & 3" muffler
